cadillac

What does it take to put a 500 on a gear box ? Do they make a box just for them or do I have to make an adapter plate? I can build a 500 fairly cheap that will turn 5500 all day with a huge torque and powerband.. Used to use these motors in toyota 4x4s for mudracing... thanks to all  :? :?

Yes sir , Stinger or Rotator all have the holes for your caddy.Just bolt it on . Just got to decide what ratio you want ,That all ,another story ! If you going to get fat prop you can go high on ratio . if not just a little high!Like I said find out what you want And then they will tell you ! I like the 237 to 1 for my cad it find itself about 4800 !That when the ponys are there with the pounds !Then that way if you want to 5500 you can have ego thing !Some of us think more gear more pitch, less noise less gas !And you just some :Dyou cant talk too! :D

franklin makes a great counter rotator for a caddy but i dont like belt drives. i'm not trying to open a can of worms but i would rather have a
gear to gear.precision gear drive makes an application for a caddy
and it is only 1700 bucks new.

Alright...... I now know what I want to put together. I was figuring 2.30 range box and spin 3 blade carbon fiber on 14x8 aluminum hull. Was hoping for decent fuel economy on easy plane cad motor should be in less strain than small block I had before. How big radiator do yall run 3-4 core aluminum? O.K. someone find me a good used 14-15 ft boat needing motor box and prop...

Last time I check. precision needed a adaptor for cads butt !He said he was working on a cad deal, so bondsman probuley knows more than me sort of his neck of the woods up there . Four core is cool !Glad to have another cad freak with us! :D There is qite a few out there !opps I am sorry Cadilliac Inthuecius .Sorry cant spell real good ! opps I think one of worms try to crawl out!

fireman don"t forget to do a little valva train work the old cadis dont like to rev over 4200 (weak valve springs and rocker system).

stock springs will cause valve floating at more than 4200 rpm not too
mention cant handle highlift cam over 520 too well.

I see some talk here about precision gear drives .. they are extremely tough but if you swinga prop with lots of pitch and couple that with a motor with lots of cam in it.. you will have alot of banging going on. This wont hurt the motor or the gear box but it will make you wonder if it is gonna come apart.. it wont.

The reason for that is that a V8 is not a source of constant power there are flat spots where no power is being transfered. That is why the radial engine was developed. The prop is a source of constant load and when the engine gets to a flat spot the prop bounces backwards and that is where the banging comes from. He uses spur cut gears, very tough but very rough at idle just as soon as you pick up the throttle the power lapses is not a problem and the banging stops.

So keep the cam on the mild side would be my suggestion or else get used to the banging.

Firemen122,

Welcome to SAdotcom :) from Keystone Heights Fl.

I didn't catch that right away but now we also have BigFeather at Orange Park. We're on Sandridge Rd at Lake Asbury.

I recently upgraded my gearbox and replaced the flexplate with a new one from JW Performance-THE WHEEL. it is about twice as thick and NHRA certified.

IF you have a cad with a rotator used all six bolts . I have seen more than five only using three bolts with the stock plate ! stinger too!I thought it was just just a thing ! With the normal 500 it might work for a while !But when are smoking a LS 1 you need more! HAHAHAHA!!!!!!
hello Dave just had to throw that in there, good afternoon Dave! been hanging around 141 to long! i am glad he is upgrading KKKool deal
