Friends Of The Airboating Community,
Once Again, We are asking every Florida airboater to rally to our common cause to keep our navigable waters open to airboats and airboaters. There is an attack being lodged against our right of access to public waters by an Assistant Osceola County Attorney, and on March 19th @ 7 pm, there will be a significant Show Down Vote at the Osceola County Commission meeting in Kissimmee.
Even though an agreement was reached by all affected parties to limit a proposed curfew to East Lake Toho - and to affect all motor vessels; the Assistant County Attorney decided to ignore that agreement and propose a discriminatory curfew on airboats only from 11 pm until 5 am on both East and West Lake Toho. There have been no registered complaints since the muffler law went into effect last summer.
We want to thank all who turned out the last time this issue came up...BUT, it's time to double our efforts and turn out in large numbers to show support for our cause. If you know an effected airboater, grab him or her and drag them to this meeting. It is still very important that we present a respectable but FIRM show of opposition to this discriminatory action.
THE ASSISTANT COUNTY ATTORNEY (WHO HAS BEEN VERY DISRESPECTFUL TO US (AIRBOATERS), WROTE UP THE PROPOSED OSCEOLA COUNTY ORDINANCE #07 - 05 AS AIRBOATS ONLY. WHEN WE ASKED HER ABOUT THIS SHE REPLIED THAT THEY HAD DECIDED TO LEAVE IT AS AIRBOATS. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THIS WAS GOING TO BE REVISTED IN THE FUTURE.
OSCEOLA COUNTY'S GEOGRAPHICAL BOUNDARIES INCLUDED LAKES KISSIMMEE, HATCHINEHA, CYPRESS, MARIAN, RUSSELL, AND MANY OTHERS PLUS GARDNER / COBB MARSH.
THESE ARE THE PLACES WHERE THE MAJORITY OF AIRBOATERS IN CENTRAL FLA RECREATE, CAMP, HUNT, FISH, AND RIDE. SO, YOU CAN SEE WHY THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO EACH OF US. WE NEED TO TAKE TIME OUT OF OUR BUSY SCHEDULES TO ATTEND THIS MEETING AND SHOW STRONG AND UNIFIED SUPPORT AMONG OUR AIRBOATING COMMUNITY.
I REALIZE THAT SOME OF YOU WILL SAY THAT I DON'T RIDE THESE TWO LAKES BUT IF THEY GET THEIR FOOT IN THE DOOR, YOU ALL KNOW THAT IT WILL JUST MUSHROOM OUT TO ALL OTHER OSCEOLA LAKES.
THIS MEETING STARTS AT 7 PM AND AS ALL OF YOU WHO WERE THERE LAST TIME KNOWS, THE AUDITORUM CAN ONLY SEAT 275 PEOPLE. I THINK THAT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF WE SHOW UP AT 6:30 AND TOOK UP ALL OF THE SEATS.
WE ARE BEING TOLD THE ANTIS ARE GOING TO BE THERE THIS TIME. PLEASE TELL EVERYBODY YOU KNOW AS IT IS SHORT NOTICE AND EVERY AIRBOATER NEEDS TO KNOW THIS INFROMATION.
ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CALL ME.
THANKS,
