Call To Action: Highlands County and Surrounding Areas

Well-known member
I have recently learned that the Highlands Airboat Association is closing shop and will cease to exist. I am working diligently to establish a new Florida Heartland Sportsman's Association (or whatever name to be decided) to fill this void. I encourage all interested parties to contact me via email at the link below with name and contact information to set a date for an organizational meeting. I encourage any existing HAA members to participate.

Sounds good JD. Sounds a lot like KRVSA and could maybe be a partner club with them. (just thinkin' out loud)

Nothing to it but to do it!! I know of a least 10 that's willing to join! Great Idea JDot!

As we were updating our club listings, we talked to someone about Highland Club and they said they closed down in January 07.

If you are wanting to start up a club - send us some contact info and a small article about club's purpose, ride areas, etc. and we will get it into the May release of the magazine - hope that will help you get it going again.

These days, the more membership in clubs and the more actively airboaters stand together the better.

Let us know if we can help in any way.

Good luck to you.

I'm trying to set up an organizational meeting during the week of April 9 - 13 in the Sebring area. I'll post more details as I firm them up. I will also be emailing/contacting those that have sent emails to my private email address.

My Buddy runs Nieberts Fishing Resort, he said he will close down the bar if you want to have the meeting there.

Jdot, I'll send you another email authorizing you as a proxy vote in my behalf.
Just copy it and enter it into the minutes of the meeting.

Whatever y'all decide is fine with me, and count me 'in' as a member of the new club.

We need a club in this area there is a lot going on and coming up in your neck of the woods for one the kissimmee River on new boat ramps and more land coming aboard, the Florida sportsman's conservation Association has been going to town over there we would enjoy your help and input. I agree with Bishop. There is strength in numbers. You certainly would have my support. Keep us posted. Maybe have a big "recruiting" bash?
