one more ID questions for the pros please. I saw this motor the other day. I think it needs a lot of work and thats all I know. I was told it is a 150hp and ID plate say its O-360 180hp. Any ideas? Is it an O-320?

recently someone posted a lycoming site or an email address. Send them your case number and they will tell you what it was when it left there shop.

You will just have to do a search.

It is hard to see the length of the cylinder barrel in the picture, but it looks like it may be a 180 because it has 1/2" prop bolts and a 4-5 carburetor. A measurement of the barrel would confirm. The sump data tag means nothing. The 0-320 wide deck sump and the 180 hp 0-360 sump look basically the same. What length and pitch is the prop?????

Prop was a 68 X36. Well doesnt matter now boat is sold. Back to the drawing board. Thanks anyway Mike.

Yea, it's a narrow deck but it looks like a wide deck sump. I have changed all my 4 cylinders to that sump they seem to have bigger tubes and bigger tubes means more air in and possibly getting a little more out of the motor.

Yes, it is a narrow deck. Anything with the internal hex nuts is considered a narrow deck. It also has the spacer plates behind the nuts. Some 320 cases are what they call short stud and don't require the plates.

Thanks for the help gentlemen. This was the rig. The whole rig sold for $5500 :( . When I saw it would not run dry even when part of it was in the water. I was disappointed and surprised, I might have offered a little more if it had. Also if I knew it was a O-360 for sure I might have offered more, but the guy kept saying it was a 150hp. Not to mention, the motor looked so rough. Too bad, I really liked it overall, but I need a boat that can run the hill. Well back to the drawing board.

From the picture that looks like pure Gary Thurman styling and a boat we might of built. I see a lot of things that resemble our boats, and a couple of things on the cage that are different. But overall the hull, hatch covers and louver vents ,rivet layout and cage design including the driver seat and throttle pedal and some of the pipe bends looks like one of ours.

RL what do you mean? I was going to do a leak down test this weekend. I was close in price but just did not have quite enough. I will be saving my pennies.

Mike,I knew you would recognize it. Its one of yours for sure. The hull was in EXCELLENT CONDITION. Cage might have been redone after the guy sunk it. I will be looking for another one like it.

Thats what I thought! WTH is wrong with this thing? You are probably right on two accounts but that bottom was still real pretty. Straight and smooth. But, I cant lie I really wanted that sled! I am glad I took my buddy Goldhunter as the voice of reason but he doesnt like any Lycomings. Except maybe mine cause we go over the levees his Continentals can only dream of climbing. I guess I will chalk this one up to one of those cases that: Sometimes the best deals you do, are the ones you dont do. :D

I am still looking.

I think that has more to do with the different hulls

can you'll believe that over 3/4 of that boat was in a 1"of water and grass
