Can't wait to see new prop test?

My ear's are on the ground.I hear they will be testing a new blade this week! They already have the biggest hardest quietest pushing prop we have all grown to love! Now i wounder if it's something narrower in right hand rotation that's quiet with a lot of performance?A rhr. version of q series that work so good on the aircraft would be great for the more performance minded boater with out to much "sound" 8)

I assume sensenich is who we are talking about. There info sheet form the WP show list a "S" series that is the same width 15" but can get them up to 86" and "Q" maxs out at 78" the "S" also shows you can get R or L rotation unlike the "Q"
Unfortunately they did not have thrust pound info or the blades to compare to other manufacturers but I was please they actual had the time to speak with me , customer service is important to me and they pretty much locked in my sale in the next few mots when I get ready

Their doing thrust test on a couple of set up i was told. i ordered a three blade hub so i'm going wait till after this test to see what the deal is?If they make it available ?At any rate i think it's cool that their is product developing going on!

Take a look at the new prop hub in the Palm Beach show pictures Goldhunter posted ...... Woohoo !

This thing looked neat would like to see it work

Man that's the wildest looking thing I have ever seen for a prop I wonder what the reasoning is behind that and how well it will balance ?

They did that for a new idea and they said that it made a little more push at low end and they where trying to see if it would help on noise as well but all it is a conversation piece for now.

what c chardt said is what I heard form them also , but heck if it doesn't do any more then a standard 4 blade hub its worth having just for the conversations it will start at the ramp

I kind like that five blade hub also

Most of what is being said is true. I work at sensenich and I have ran this particular hub on my own boat and yes it makes a whole lot of low end, and on the ground it pushes extremely hard. Further testing will be done to issues such as correct prop setup for a certain engine or boat , but as far as vibration, it seemed to run smooth. I ran H series blades and H with Q series blades both with same response just really good push on the ground. In the water though, not a good top end runner at least not on my boat, I mean a four blade on a 520 just may not be enough power to get more pitch to run out better. Time will tell if this will make a production level, but for now we are just playing. I will try and keep you all posted.

DAGWOOD0520,
what are the major difference of actual running a Q compared to a S ? are the S's going to be as quiet as the Q's in the real world? if you can't tell I am leaning towards the S because of the rotation and length

Dagwood0520,

Welcome to Southern Airboat! What took ya so long to get here

It was an awesome looking hub and can't wait to see the feedback from the testing of it.

goldhunter_2, you really can not compare the Q with the S and I apologize for that. sometimes it gets difficult to understand our prop nomenclature, these 2 blades are meant to work on totally different applications in most cases. Q blades are designed as left hand rotation only and work better on direct drive applications , it is a shorter prop that ranges from 67" to77" depending on the hub and is also not as wide (10.5").The S blades or known as SUPERWIDES apply to automotive engines with reduction units that apply 2200 max. prop rpm. They are power hogs so you need alot of power or a higher ratio of reduction to achieve an efficient setup, even though larger in dia. and wider (15"), they will produce lower noise because of the range of rpm that it works best at. A majority of the time prop rpm is going to dictate noise levels to a certain extent, other things like boat setup and engine noise will also contribute to a quiet running boat. I suppose whichever blade design most fits your application should be the one to choose, but they both do very well for there specific applications. The main things to look at when trying to figure out if the S blade will work, is 1 engine power and 2 reduction unit. Also the S is available as left or right hand rotation, so belt or gear drives are ok for this blade design . I hope I hit the key points let me know.

You can't understand how quiet the S props are until you see a boat running them. Notice I said SEE not HEAR!

You will be amazed.
