carb?

I was told you can put an auto carb on an aircraft engine and they will work just fine. Anybody out there running anything like this. And if so can you get them to run god and still have enough fuel to cool them. If you can I am going to put one on my c-125 and was wondering what size would work. I was told to go a small two barell carb off of an old ford. Any help or comments would be great. Thanks again.

On my first boat I had an O-290 GPU. It had a bad carburetor so I put on a simple 2 barrel I got from a local shop. It worked fine. Carburetors are a simple, yet tricky thing. The aircraft engine manufactures require a specific carb for a specific engine. I always use what they recommend in aircraft, but on an airboat you can experiment.

My O-320 requires an MA4-SPA but I wouldn't hesitate to put on an MA3-SPA if that's all I had. Heck, I even used a Stromberg for a 65 horse on an O-200 once just to test the engine. I didn't fly with it but it was fine for ground testing.

You can never go wrong though using what the manufactures recommend.

I have run carb on both GPU intakes and 520 intake systems, they work great.I'm running a 930 Predator carb on my converson 520.You would probably want to adapt to a 500 holley 2 barrell. They are very simple and easily jetted.

Its all in how you intake it.520 cont are updraft to.But there are several different style intakes out there to adapt a carb to it.It can be done successfully.

Doesn't that carb run totally off of vacumn? I heard it is really hard to make it work right. I wanted to used one for my super charge motor 0540, because I like the thought of having a single venturi.

The Predator is designed to deliver what ever engine needs from vacuum up to 930cfm.It works great. No compaints what so ever.Sent carb to Predator had them set it up based on HP and top RPM,and I havent touched it.
