case powder coated

Do you mean crank case? or some toolbox or something.

I'm guessing motor crank case. I did not know you could do that. Seems like it'd peel off because of all the places you'd have to shave it down to bare metal where stuff attaches. Then oil gets under it, and before too long, it'd be all nasty and half peeled off.

I've never see it done. I'm interested in the answer too.

Why not just paint it? I'd be afraid the sandblasting prep would warp it or eat up some of the surfaces you didn't want et up.

matt.

Hey 520,

You should just ride over to Buckhead, and ask Frank @ Frisco Metals.
He's got an oven, and does some sweet Powder coating work.

They are right on the hwy, on the left as your headed to Lakeport.

He can tell ya if it's doable, and if it's a good idea.

I am talking about a aircraft crank case.someone told me you could do it and since i have my motor pulled apart i thought i might give it a shot.

That's why I thought you should stop by Fraks place. He's close to you if your in Okeechobee city.

Check it out.
He's cool.

I personally don't know why it would'nt work, but perhaps others around here may know a good reason not too powder coat the cases.

I don't know if I'd recommend doing the cylinders.
The extra thick coating may slow down the heat transfer to the air from the cooling fins. Could make it run hotter.
