CCAA's Lighted Airboat Christmas Parade

Daddy Dave

Well-known member
Am still all aflutter and aglow about the terrific show that CCAA members put on last Saturday night on Lake Hernando.

If SAO doesn't put this one on our calendar in '06 for an Official SAO Fun-shion next year, Shame On Us.

The night was magical, mare's tails in the moonlight; airboats decorated to the 9s, even a lighted polar bear pulling an airboat / float / sleigh and thousands of spectators CHEERING AIRBOATS. Just Unbelieveable.

THANK YOU SWAMPJET & QueenJanis.

Yes BigDaddy, it was a FANTASTIC night. Lots of spectators at the boat ramp/park, and ALL ALONG the miles of homefront shoreline. There were so many TOYS DONATED from the airboaters AND spectators that it FILLED a VAN!!! The sunset was spectacular! All the airboats where highly decorated, (I'm going to have to put even more lights on next year just to keep up). It's really neet to be able to hear people clapping, hooping and hollaring, even over the hum of the airboat and generator!!
And it was all finished off at ARMANTE'S RESTAURANT with GREAT FRIENDS.

Of course, BigDaddy had the best seats of all spectators by setting up at several different locations along the way!
Your the best, Capt. :santa:

Yes, it's this Saturday, December 9th. Gather at the Hernando Boat Ramp at 4:30 pm. About 5:30 we'll all line up out in the middle of the lake and start our parade just after dark. The parade takes about an hour and a half, and ends up at Armante's Restaurant for refreshments. Everyone is welcome. Put tons of lights on, and put a small generator down in the boat to power your lights. I'll attach a photo of our boat from a couple of years ago.

Entry fee is a new, unwrapped toy to be donated to Citrus United Basket (CUB). Last year, CCAA was the 2nd largest contributer to CUB. We collected enough toys to fill a full-size van. We can do even better this year!

Spectators are welcome at the Hernando Boat Ramp or anywhere along the parade route.

We have some great prizes to give away, but you have to decorate and participate in the parade to be entered in the drawings.

I've put several photos from last year in my Member Gallery.

Look forward to seeing you all there!

Count on us trying to be there. Lets be the #1 donator this year! Unless something unexpected happens we will be there!!

Swampjet,

For people wanting to see the parade, (not participants) where is a good vantage point to watch from?

Thanks in advance.

The boat ramp is right next to the Hernando park. Anywhere in that area should be a good place to watch.

Last year, we tagged along beside the fleet - to the east - and away from the parade. The sights were terrific. Most places the parade goes has open lake to the east that will allow spectators on airboats to follow alongside and not intefere. That's our plan for this year, too.
