Chevy Engine ID

The oil pan on my Chevy 350 is looking pretty rough and I want to replace it. I looked in Jegs catalog and was overwelmed with their selection of oil pans. First I need to know the year of my engine and I can't find the casting number on the internet. Also, I hate to buy a book not knowing if they will have it listed. The engine is a Chevrolet 350, 4 bolt main out of a school bus from Titusville. The casting number is "14016370." I'm thinking about a replacing my oil pan with a 6 or 7 quart aluminum job and would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

I have a book good from 49-74 and none of these numbers match yours. Is this the number from the back of the block?

Here are the only two major issues. Is it a one piece or two piece and what side is the dip stick on besides that they will all fit and the only difference left is capacity!

The number was on the driver side back of the engine. I know it's the ID number as I found numbers that were close. The rear main seal is a two piece and the dip stick is driver side. I think there is a difference on the dimensions on front of the oil pan with the older engines.

One piece rear main or two piece are the only issues as far as getting one that fits unless you have a preference as to what side the dipstick is on. Lots of choices! 8) Now if you are putting it in a 1965 nova or something that's different but do whatever you want on the airboat.

Cold and Thunder are right Bill ..... pick a pan that uses a 2 piece rear main seal and has the capacity you want. Then get one of the new one-piece Fel Pro pan gaskets to put it on with. The front and rear seal and the pan rails are all molded in one piece.

Before you install it, clean it good and give it a couple of coats of clear Engine Enamel (Duplicolor) so that it won't start to corrode on you right away.

Piece of cake ..... :) .

Your engine is a 1980 or older

The difference in the front is taken care of by two different gasket pieces, but I don't think that is an issue if it is later than a 70

I'm sorry, but I posted the wrong block ID number. I looked at my engine again today when I got off work and the number is "14016379," not "70." On the Mortec website I was able to find my engine and it is a 1977 - 79. Thanks for all the help.
