CLEAN UP LOOKS GOOD TO ME ! LOT OF PEOPLE . LOTS OF TRASH ! LOTS OF FUN ! LOCAL BOYS DID GOOD ! :D THANKS !

The below statements are off the top of my head, My apologies if I mixed up any numbers... I did not write this stuff down as it happened...

4700 pounds of junk removed from the area.

The KRVSA club won the $700 prize for the competition between clubs. Broward came in 2nd. Southern Airboat came in 4th (I think) with about 750 pounds of trash. The KRVSA Board of Directors voted to donate their winnings directly back into the pot for next year's cleanup prize. Several other individuals then began donating $100 bills to the kitty and it quickly grew to $2300. And I believe that is just a start to the prize pot for next year. The total prize pot for THIS year was $1100.

The most unusual item was a rotted out BBQ gas grill. The guy who brought a shopping cart in did not win on that one. Editorial comment: It seems to me that a BBQ in a recreational boating area is not that unusual. Whereas a shopping cart in a swamp is pretty dang unusual in my opinion!

The story about the woman paralized in an auto accident and her airboat was told. It seems that once she recovered from her injuries, she began to build a boat, but when she dropped it off at the shop, the guys determined that is was not safe, would NEVER be safe, so they destroyed her boat and began building her a NEW one. They passed the collection plate to take donations to buy parts for this new handicapped enabled boat. I'm not sure how much they collected in that, but lots of people began coming to the stage and placing cash ($100 bills) there. It was a tear jerking moment when a man approached carrying a young boy who had a fist full of money.

The 50/50 drawing was worth $902 to the winner, and the guy who won the wad of cash instantly donated $200 to the Handicapped woman's boat fund.

Chester (the "blender boat guy" from the Broward club) found an old SHALLOW WATER bouy and it counted towards some of the weight of junk, but the guy running the loader never hauled it to the dumpster. That reflective tape covered bouy was scarfed up by ME... :D and sometime soon it'll be made into a roadside mailbox for me & Laura. :D :D Don't think we did not PAY for it.... That smelly thing was crammed into Laura's Nissan 300Z and smelled with us all the way home.

The poster map I made for the October monthly run and got a copy made for Big Daddy was "stolen" by Danny Brantley down at the Broward show. He went and framed it and it was the final thing auctioned. Several heavy hitters battled for it, and it ended up selling for $800!!!!!!!!!!! :D

The finale was the drawing for the raffle of the Diamondback boat they were giving away. Some guy who was not present won.

Parking boats at Camp Mack was a NIGHTMARE!!! There were so many boats. After the party there broke up, we rode off the the Milk Bus. I've never seen so many boats at the bus! Laura and I walked the line of boats and counted 112. But more were arriving, and the final count was probably closer to 150 boats.

We took off on a ride to get some wind on our faces, and found ourselves back at Camp Mack so we decided to call it a day. We left a big group of our Southern Airboat family out at the bus - having a grand time cooking up hot dogs and frog legs.

Photos to follow. :) What a fun day!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow what a great day!! So much trash was collected. It was great to see all new faces there. Nice to meet you Skeeter and wife, good to see Chester and wife there all the way from Davie area, all the old faces of southernairboat. We had a great time and we got 4th place in the trash pick up. That was great.
We had a great time at the milk bus and I think at last count there were 150 boats on the bus. Country and Stan did a great job with the cooking and we had a great time. Late night ride stirred up the wind and the white caps on the lake. Stan had a few troubles but we all made it safely back to the beautiful new motel at Camp Mack where we were greeted with some wonderful company at the picnic tables. We all sat there and talked for a little while and then was off to bed.
Big Daddy came in for the Sunday ride. He was missed Saturday for sure. We also met up with Waterthunder and wife at the ridge and we rode to BS hill where we met a great guy who towed his boat from New York for this lake cleanup. I think he told Dawn it was his 6th year. Then we were off to Lake Cypress for lunch. We made it safely there but the service was less than great. So some of us did not eat. Don't know what happened but they need to work on their service there.
So all in all we had a great time and a wonderful weekend.
Ya'll pray for rain in from now until May so the next get together will go off without a hitch. Look forward to seeing you all at the next run at Loughman. Thanks for the fun this weekend.

Really enjoyed the weekend, good food good times good friends it don't get any better than that.

The late night ride was as usual an adventure in waiting. There are a few slick spots in gardner marsh but there are many more not so slick spots. I was leading and hit a few sticky spots went past them looking for wet ones and found more sticky so turned back with the warning but it was too late. Everyone got out ok and we were off again back to the waters of north cove. The east shore of the lake is miles of skinny water great sliding to be had everywhere. The frogs were not committing suicide as fast as I would have hoped for but the riding was everything you could want. The night was clear and depending on who you ask it was either perfect or it was freezing. The sky was fuzzy with stars and as summer approaches those nights get harder to come by.

Mudpuppy had a slight malfunction and needed a tow back to camp mack
when his oil pump quit workin. I am not sure what happened to it but maybe it was not real serious. I hope. I pulled him in only turnin my prop 700 rpms at a nice cruising speed. It was good test for my boat.

The Basket mobile missed a great opportunity to demonstrate its submarine talents when cruising the river that afternoon the ignition wire fell off the switch and the engine went dead stop. Basket musta been payin attention to the posts on here cause he immediately hit the front deck and all was fine, of course all but his nerves, he sure is an excitable kinda guy. LOL we love ya basket just like you are.

Stans fuel pump quit and he radioed me to let me know and I asked him where he was and he said he was behind me so I asked for the light in the sky trick so i could find him, no luck, I told him I was in the woods so I would buzz back to the lake and look again he shined up, I still couldn't see him, he said he just saw me running so I went out further in the lake and there he was way in front of me, LOL I thought I was goin blind I was looking the wrong way, oh well w efound him and with a few spare parts the ole caddy was running again. By that time everyone had found us except Chris & charity who had decided to go to thomas landing, It was thier anniversary so I suspect they were seeking a little alone time. The water had gotten quite rough before we started frogging and it was worse now so we hugged the shore and had a great time getting back.

Stans boat was full of water about 8 to 10 inches worth because he didnt want to turn on his pumps due to the gas in the bilge so he was extra heavy and the fuel pump we rigged up was really not enough for that motor so he was at a definite disadvantage to say the least. Cowboy & Canefan were definetly showing their airboating abilitys and heritage with those fine Original Palmbeach rigs It was really late or early depending on how you look at it when we got back to camp mack. Stan came up with the idea for a late night snack of smoked sausages over the oakwood fire in the pit at camp macks store, a little sourdough wrap and a squirt of mustard and it was good. Stan and I skipped the sunday ride My boat was acting up a little so Just came on home.

Lookin forward to the next one already.

Well John looks like I'll be rebuilding that 500 that I got in the garage a little sooner than planed.

I'll be calling Stan for some wisdom for the right cam to use. I'm hoping to get back on the water SOON. like 3 weeks maybe.

I got there a little late Sat. morning. Hit the water in my new caddy boat. Went for a little ride. Them back to Camp Mack For the trash weigh in. After all the stuff at the camp was done. It was to the Milk Bus. What a wild ride out to the Milk Bus. Got a little wet Thanks to the JERK in the out board pushin 3ft wake but the Bubba boat jumped it the wife and I had a good time. The wife still don't like frog legs (I think it becouse she is a YANKEE) But I still love her for some odd reson. We had a nice ride back to Camp Mack.

We are lookin at the next time we get together with everyone.

Dakota, which side of the hotel were you staying on. We were on the opposite side of the bar. Talked with a few people but none were part of SA.

I had a great time, I couldn't believe the turn out. It was great to see that many boat with such a wide variety of combinations.

Anyone who missed it, you missed out. Don't miss this one next year.

I spent the day yesterday with two of the finest people you could ever hope to meet ..... Jeff and Dawn of Team Basketcase. I was offered a ride with them and had a BLAST! Great people, great weather, and a killer counter-rotator airboat ...... it don't get better than that!!

Thanks for lettin' me tag along guys. Really enjoyed it! Don't forget the Citrus County ride on Orange Lake June 24th like we talked about. It'll be my turn to return the favor.

BF

We wondered about you. We stayed on the side facing the bar. Country and Stan were on your side. There were quite a few on our side like us, Gatorstick, Woodswoman, Swampjet, Bigfeather, BAsket, etc. Sorry we missed you.

BadBilly ..... look for the picnic table with all the people around it next time. We had hotdogs and hambergers on the grill and folks were comin' and goin' around there until real late all night.

Keep an eye on Gatorstick though ..... he tried to poison me :? .

BF

I should have guessed I saw you guys in the morning sitting over there. We talked to some interesting people and told them about this site. Look forward to meeting you guys next time.

Feather,
You poisoned yourself. You should drop the 1.75 down to a diet size...........

Hmmm ...... maybe THAT's what happened :? !

Sure had a good time though.

BF

Great play by play Country and thanks again to you and Stan for the legs and sides. Thanks for leading the charge too. Your boat the way it's set up is awesome and those new blades are a thing of beauty.
Mega echoes BF on your assesment of Team Basketcase. No two finer people anywhere. It is a pleasure to call them friends.
I told Cowboy hw much I really am enjoying airbaoting again and how days like Sat. will be in my mind forever. Airboaters are a great community and SA is bringing us all closer and I believe we all benifit from that.
Rick, I know you hate taking the blame or the credit but this is all your fault. Thanks again.

Hey Ya'll,

What a weekend! Spent with the best company in the whole world.

Southern Airboat monthly rides are alive and well!

UncleBubba, I thought you had left the ramp already or I would have "plowed " the outboards wake for you. Was good to finally ride with you again. BadBilly, sorry we missed you. Venicen Friday night and frog legs Saturday night.

The KRVSA with Mr. Danny Brantley at the rudder out-did themselves. A 1st class airboating club that will "get-er-done" when asked to!

fine food ,fine folks and fine ridin makes for another pleasurable adventure . again cntry saved him self and his boat from haveing to tow me in 20 miles by having a spare fuel pump among his supplys had to do some rigging to make 8n fittings fit 5/16 but it worked out alright.Got to pay him back by retrieving his nextell from the grasp of gardners marsh. seems that he lost it while tugging and pulling on boats.By the time we got back to the ramp the legs I had ate earlyer were wareing off and I found myself wishing that I had stuffed a few in my pockets.then I noticed the nice fire burning up by the store and remerbered cntry having a package of sausage on his boat the only problem we faced was the lack of pametto fans or sticks woundn,t ya Know cntry saved the meal with skewers from his boat

I have to say...it really doesn't get any bettter than the time I had this weekend.

Good food, excellent company and grand weather.

BF, thanks for lunch, (some of us did get to eat, sorry dakota) It was our pleasure to include you on Sunday. You are part of the SA family.

Nice to see the faces of those we feel like we already know but have never really met.

To all of the SA family, as always you all make me laugh and remind me of the good in this world.

Danny and the KRVSA team....you guys outdid yourselves! Can't wait for next year. A special hello to Fred Kaley, thanks for the venison.

As always I have to give hugs to my buddies Dakota and CC. Happy Anniversary! May you always feel like you met yesterday

Last but not least....Rick, you are awesome.

To my husband, Basketcase......thank you. I always feel like we just met yesterday.

A great time at Camp Mack! The new motel was awesome- decorated in log cabin type furnishings with airboat pictures on the wall--(who couldn't love that...). Only one problem...the walls are very thin! A few of you know what I'm talking about! hehehe...

It was such a privilege to spend time around our extended airboating family. Everywhere you turned there was a familiar face. We had the best of company the entire weekend--not to mention an excellent time. The ride Sunday was spectacular!

Dawn, thank you for the inspirational framed thoughts! Moodfood, if you don't go into the mapping business, I'll have a long talk with Laura about it!!! To all of the rest of the family--thanks for being you!
