I only post once in awhile and i'm asking for some insite here. How many out there are running a350 dd ? What size hull and what size prop y'all runnin ? Need some help here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

i'll post something to make you feel better i ran a dd caddy now have a gearbox on it.my cousine ran a dd 350 for 2 months and it was gone.

the boat i built for my boy had a old style apache hull front stick single rear seat 72x32 fl air wood prop 325 hp iron heads 11to1 comp 34oo on the water 3100 on ground it was bad for a dd .

Gator, a lot of the talk on here is about gearboxes (mostly) and belt drives (I run one) ..... and then there are the guys that run the DD Caddies and they seem to have more fun than any of us.

I think a DD smallblock could be a very cool little boat. I've never owned one, but Water Thunder is building one so that tells me that the days of a DD auto motor are far from over.

What I do know is that you'll want to keep it light ..... probably a 2 seater around 12' long, and plan on running a two blade carbon fiber prop if that's in the budget so that you can tune for maximum push.

You'll need a different cam. Something with around 106 degrees of lobe seperation (Comp Cams in Memphis can do it) because you'll basically be turning an auto engine into a tractor motor. Torque is your friend.

Go for it. and let us know how it turns out.

I wouldn`t go over 12`6 by 7 on the hull and if you can take the sound of a warp drive it will be your best choice,if not than a 2 blade q series would be my next choice

Hmgm is probably right .... a warp drive would be a good prop for it.

Save weight everywhere you can ....... single battery, small alternater,
one bilge pump, no extra frills. Sorta like the pictures on here of Waterthunders boat. Basic hotrod 8) .
