howdy all i'm plannin my vacation and it's lookin like i will be in florida in july hoping to be there during the sao monthly ride or other airboat related event's. i know it's early yet but as soon as a date and location is set for july let me know. i don't know yet if i will bring my boat so i may be hitch hiking a airboat ride or bringing the mazda rotary boat. any info will be greatly appreciated thank's much. scooter

May's gonna be a ride the weekend of the Quiet Airboat Competetion in the Seminole County area of the St. Johns.

No word yet on June or July. Any ideas for the next direction?

I wouldn't mind Melbourne or the glades for one or both of them if the water is up by then.

Speaking of low water - At Loughman in October (Hurricane Wilma) the water was only an inch away from going inside the restaurant - the guage read 9.35 feet. That same gauge is reading 1.66 feet!!! That's the lowest it's been in a long time. The riding is pretty good out there when the guage is above 4 feet.

This is the guage:

(it's located on the north side of the bridge where Hwy 50 crosses the river)

Scooter - ya know what days in July you'll be here? I've never been on a ride where there were not some empty seats.

Is Lake Hernando the Tsala Apopka chain from Apache Shores to Hernando to Inverness?
Yep. But the best airboating is in the Herando (town, not county) part of the lake. Big lake for sure.

You're right Mudpuppy. Nice ridin' out there. How has that area been affected by the low water season? Probably not too bad since that lake has all the dams thruout it.

I'd go for a June or July ride there too.

Tim, I'd love to see your place some day, but I heard last night on the news that we can expect $4.00 a gallon gas by June.
We'll all be playin closer to home soon if somebody doesn't get a handle on that.

Your welcome to fly in, ride on our boats, or I can get you a boat to drive.

Your welcome up anytime boat or no boat.

Tim

What's the closest airport to you, by the way ...... Ann and I have talked about that.

feather

Thanks Scooter ..... neither of us have ever been to Nebraska, but I've never met anyone from there I didn't like. We might just fly out there one of these days for a long weekend.
If I find a deal on tickets, I'll post it. Might get a few other SAO people together for it ..... that would be fun.

Tim owes me some 'whisker' fishin on the Platte. Very old thread.

big feather, I was smiling while reading your post.

expedia has the cheapest tickets online. Don't worry about lodging your welcome to stay at our house on the river.

If you want to stay intown that's fine to. But you guys are welcome anytime.

July 29 is going to be the NAA Family fun day. Lots of boats will be there, live band on a sandbar and lots of free food.

Scooter I gave you the wrong dates on the NAA family fun day. July 29

big feather brings some friends and we all can tell some stories around the fire at the end of the day.

Tim, this Summer is toast for us. Way too much goin on, but we'll take a hard look at early Autumn when we get a little closer.
When does your leaf change begin ..... mid Sept. ?

All right, SAO .... the man said come out and ride the Platte river with him. Campfires, new friends, longnecks on the Platte River. Cat fishin'. Think about it. Might be very cool to see another man's river when the leaves are startin to change and the campfire feels real good when the sun goes down. Let me hear from some of you later on if that sounds like a Fri.- Sun. trip on a silver bird to Omaha.

Tim, did you try those nitrile rubber gloves on Whiskers?

BF

have not tried the gloves,

This last summer I was busy building our home on the river.

Did not do much fishing last year, and this year has been so busy I have not got a line wet yet.

May I am going to be hopefull most of the mornings.

Leaves start turning around the end of Sept.

My wife and I are planning a trip down to Florida around the middle of Nov, do you guys airboat then?

Tim

We airboat here every month. Bring your bride and come on ...... plenty of seats!

Sounds goods, when the time gets close we can discuss the details then.

for the folks that are reading this.

July 29 is the NAA family fun day. Any one is welcome to come up with a boat or no boat we can get you there.
