Comming to Florida

As you all know I'm from Michigan and here is the situation.
My oldest son and I own our Airboat together so he and his family and another family are coming down to Cristal River the first week of April 2006. They are bringing the airboat so the can go riding in some of your beautiful state. While they are their the guys would like to see if they can go bow fishing for sharks or stingrays????
Is their anyone in that area that could help them out and me as dad
KEEP AN EYE ON THEM. as they know nothing of the dangers that they may run into down their. Or the places they should not go.
Thanks

Crystal River/ just to let you know there is a 11pm curfew in Citrus County. They should go to Ozello and put in there, more airboat friendly or at the end of FT Island Beach. Limit on sharks are 1 per boat per daY. No limit on sting rays but keep in mind that they are good to eat once you know how to clean them. I think Sheephead will be gone by then. In stead of bow fishing they should try giggin. If they are looking to go ride the Lakes in Hernando or somewhere else let me know.

Thank you A1 this is the type of info they will need to stay out of jail.
Do you have to have a flag on you boat in Fl. If so what collar dose it have to be???? and I just heard that the redfish might be a good thing for them to try in the golf????

Ron,

Redfish are gamefish and as such can't be gigged or speared. Advise them not to make that mistake. Sheepshead make good bow / gig targets as do mullet and sting rays. All saltwater anglers fishing from any vessel must have a license, regardless of their chosen gear.

The coastline north of Crystal River offers terrific airboating but has more than a few rocks and oyster bars - have polymere, can travel.

Fresh water areas that are terrific and closeby include those A1 mentions. Capt. Swampjet lives in Inverness on the vast lake Hernando marsh and the Citrus County airboat alliance folks are out there every day and twice on weekends. Even simple mapping GPS have internal charts of both areas.

That's prime snook season and I'll likely be guiding every day - but, if not, I'll help them with a ride / tour if they wish.

Hey Ron new to this website, but they should run south to chazowitzka river, great ride, need a free permit to do it legally, but plenty of mullet and sheepshead. Great little bar/restaurant JimBobs homemade sangria and burgers at the head of the river.

If they run South to Chassahowitzha Not only will the have to have a permitt but they have to run out side the outter polls until you get to the Chassahowitzha river then you can cut in. Airboats are not allowed North of Chazowitzka River , East of the Boundary Polls and South of Hommosassa River even if you have a permitt. This is Chassahowitzha Wildlife Refuge.

Here is the map and the web site

Oyster Bars are the pitts

Thank you all for your help.... A week or so before they leave I will drop a PM to those that rob may want a contact info for while he is down their.

Hey Ron, I flew up to Michigan this week. My goodness it sure is cold up here. I am flying back out tonight but I should have thought to call you. I would have like to met you if I was anywhere near your neck of the woods. I love it up here so I will be back.

faron I'll bet you were over to Detroit checking out those Airboats they were using for security during the super bole game. I am just south of Grand Rapids. As for the cold we over here on the west side are in our??? 50th day of above normal temperatures. So it is a mild winter so far.
Some day our pats will cross wish you would have had time to call me we just might have had that path crossing sooner than later. That could have been fun. We could have gone for an airboat ride!!!!
