Well for one i hope this is the right fork
Um to put this in if not I apologize... My biggest question is what the heck happened to common courtesy on the water or with how some people operate their airboat... Let me sum this up some , my wife and I were out on our airboat trying to enjoy a day of fishing, and this and several other airboaters who know um there come flying up right up on my on the plane creating huge wakes Makin there turn and prop washing the hell out of us and o e damn nerve rolls my boat and dangnear blowing my wife overboard while I was trying to balance my boat to prevent from sinking. I mean seriously not the 1st m.f had the descentcy to even stop and check on us after that affair. Point is i was raised on the water to have courtesy to all boaters fishing, swimming , etc etc, where has it all gone too, too many disrespectful boaters out there running airboat. I mean if they did this to me i sure as heck wonder what they do to regular boaters, which only makes us all airboaters look bad... Frustrates me so bad almost want to sell my boat, but that wont happen Lol... Too many other times that sign that's posted also saying idle speed no wake... That's just what it means Idle!!! Not half throttle .. I just really felt compelled to vent this frustration out here and bring this safety, courtesy on the water to some that needs it.... :angry5:

While this isn't for complaints per se, you do make a great point about idle zones. I assume amid all the danger you were unable to ID the boat or numbers etc. What you describe is worth a chat with FWC if you have something for them.

There will always be lame brains who are only interested in their own fun and never care a bit how it effects someone else. These kind of people are a danger no matter where they are be it on the highway, on a motorcycle or in a boat.

Situational awareness is a huge part of safety, pay attention and evaluate things before they happen and always be ready for the unexpected.

Good post.

I do apologize for the complaint on here , just really needed to be addressed , but answer to your question is no I did t get any numbers cause I was busy making sure I want go g to sink.. Balancing my boat AMD hanging o to my wife to keep her from bee g prop washed overboard. By then was to far to see any numbers ... Makes me want to put a trail camera on my boat for when I'm fishing and get pics... Lol.

People put dash cams on their cars for the same reason and it works out in their favor when used as evidence.

Either you pissed some folks off or you have some real a-holes out there. Just more fuel for air boating laws to get worse. Well I guess it is an easy answer to what a couple of dumbasses are. :slap:

For pretty cheap, you could get a couple of these cameras & mount them back-to-back to cover your bases. Set them on loop recording & they'll continue to record over old footage till you stop them to capture the event of interest. Guess there are jerks on the water just as there are on the road :/

I was not there and OP's rant lacks info and context..
Let's look at the other possibilities when these issues come up.
People sometimes place themselves and their boats in a place that leaves little to zero room for others to maneuver around or past them, without the other operator being forced into making judgement calls on let off or keep steerage and power through.
They may not even relize it. To others they are sitting in exactly the wrong place.
Don't fish on the outside of the corner where everyone is making a turn into another trail or channel. The other boats may not have time or distance to slow down sufficiently without their own risk of wake rolling up over the transom..? Without better info and context on what was going on no one can really say who is right. Yes everyone is responsible for their wake but placing yourself in an open hulled airboat in deep water, in a manner that is asking for trouble certainly does not help.
Yes. OP. I agree. There is a general lack of civility by many. However, if several boats did the same thing then maybe taking another look at where you were sitting and what others might view on approach would change the situation.

guys, it's a general lack of common sense/respect that is the 'new normal'

things that would of gotten you beat down by god fearing parents isn't happening, and now we see the 'everybody gets a participation trophy' kids all grown up and in action.

i was fishing in a small canal with my old dad in the boat and has some inbreds pass by a couple others boats before they got to me. i managed to get them to slow down to a idle speed and when i questioned his lack of mentality/respect for others he told me 'i'm in a hurry'.

so.. i tried to hook him with my fishing pole but missed. then i threw a hammer at him, missed again. as i was screaming at the fat fellow to come close enough for me to get in his boat and teach him some manners, my wise ol dad sat on my storage box where i keep my pistol and wouldn't get up. i wanted to beat him, not shoot him, but in the heat of the moment it wouldn't of mattered much to me.

anyway, my dad told me to calm down as i was screaming at fatboy about how his daddy should of pulled out and that he doesn't deserve to breath the same air as me. then he sped up and plowed out of the canal, oblivious to common sense and decency.

took a 10 min break to calm down, then went back to fishing. lol

and these peoples vote counts just like mine. crazy.

sorry if i went off on a rant, but some people are stupid, and some are awesome. we never seem to remember to normal ones.

I can agree running the middle river and people sitting in john boats almost blocking the river. When you come around a corner you well? I say this also the bass boat will fly thru at 50 so be careful.
