Complete LS2 Injected cost vs carb cost

I just issued this quote today. The price differance between a carberated and fuel injected 475HP LS2 is $2,800.

I could build you a new 475HP carbureted LS2 for $8,000 all parts are new. This includes everything needed to run. Carb, lightweight starter, stainless long tube headers, water pump with all cooling mod's, belt, self exciting single wire alternator, all stainless brackets, flywheel, plugs and wires and WaterThunder Performance valve covers, programmable engine control system with over heat protection. Or if you like I can build you a 475HP Fuel injected LS2 with all the mentioned above for $10,800.

Is this with our without the gearbox. Also what is the difference between the LS1 and the LS2. (please pardon my ignorance on the subject).

If I had the money, I could afford to buy your LS2 and not saying that it's overpriced or anything but the cost of fuel injection wouldn't make much difference. probably should have built a junkyard sbc with a 2.68 box but! We have so much oil field money around here now that price is not a factor and good salesmanship would mean explaining what you have to live with and how much. Their choice. I would say the crap I work on, a simple throttle body would save us thousands a year per piece of equipment labor and parts. Fuel or carbon fouled plugs from the operator not knowing how to use a manual choke to the ones without heated carb plates iceing up! If the system fail safes to a parameter that won't turn pistons to ashtrays I am all all for an affordable fuel injection system.

when they work they are idiot proof so

Thunder, on the subject of carburetors ......
I've always tried to switch off the fuel pump and let the engine idle a short while before shutting it down, to burn off a little of the fuel in the carb when I wasn't going to be running it for a while.

I mentioned this to a guy the other day and he said that I was setting myself up for a stuck float sometime on restart.

Any thoughts on that ?

That's kinda my thinkin, plus the carb gets a shot of fresh gas the next time you do go to start it.
