Computer Crashed

My computer will be out for about a week so if anyone needs me or is trying to contact me call my cell 409-920-0716. I'm going to go crazy for a week w/out my computer!!!

There are little yellow line on my screen. HP says my video card is bad 2y/o and they must replace the mother board $395 I wish I understood how to fix it myself. Airboats are easier than computers!

Good Luck, and may the force be with you.
Nothing aside from my wives (past and present)
has made me feel more stupid than this computer.

Faron, for another $200 you could get a brand new Dell with a warranty. Just a thought.

my sons took three boards to get it right the last was out of warranty after that he started building his own but I personal am happy when the darn thing turns on

Capt,
Olf arts is right,2 yrs in computer years is like dog yrs.
But, the reason for my post is to suggest buying an external harddrive if you don't have one and backing up everything. if u send it off chances are youe data won't come back with your machine.

My wife uses Dells at her office. They have seven of them over there. After around two years they download everything they want off of them, wipe them clean, and order a new one.

The technology is changing so fast that they can usually more than double their speed and capacity with every change out.

I just got a Dell laptop a few weeks ago for xmas. Mostly for school and work. It seems to be good so far lol

Well I ended up with 2 days of warranty on my computer so they sent me a brand new one of a new model. The one that broke had stopped being produced. The repair were going to cost over $1000. I was shocked HP sent me a brand new computer that was even better than what I had. Then they sold me 3 more yrs of warranty so I am completely covered for 3 more years. I made out awesome but it put me a couple weeks behind on my work and keeping up with all of you guys.

That's just about as lucky as you can get. me, they would have said sorry, your puter is 2 days out of warranty.

So cool when a company stands behind their product. It could go the other way, for example.......my wife drives a 2003 Ford Thunderbird, her dream car. On Feb 2nd it displayed an error code on the dash so we took it to the dealer. They informed us that the 3/36 warranty had expired on January 31, which I had no argument with. ( I was two days late, you were two days ...just in time ! ) They call me the next day and tell me that it will require $3043.26 worth of repairs to the tranny. The part that really lights my flame is that the car only has 20 thousand miles on it. The wife only drives to and from work a total round trip of 13 miles and never out of speed zone higher than 35 miles per hour! Does Ford stand behind their product? NO. Do American companies care about Americans? At this point I don't believe they do and this is partly due to e-mail responses I have received from them in the last two days. Will I buy another American made car? Most likely not. DO you think the corporate directors have a clue why their company is on the rocks? I have a good idea.........

I Hate buying Japanese but damn thier products are good! I will never have the wife in another ford or chevy, and if Toyota built a f350 diesel crewcab I would have to look at it real close. Come to think about it my truck was built in Kentucky and my wifes Toyota in San Antonio... Rumor has it Everythings better in Texas.

When my GMC was due for a 30,000 mile checkup I took it in because I wanted to protect the rest of my warranty and get a recall thing taken care of. When it was done they handed me a bill for nearly $450 bucks !

I said, "What's this for ? I have a bumper to bumper warranty and the manual says I have to have this stuff done to protect it."
They said, "Well, you do, but we charge for the things listed in that checkup."

My neighbor has an Acura. When he took it in for it's 30,000 mile check they did everything on the list, washed the car, handed him the keys and said "Thanks for your business".

Buying American is very important to me, but it's getting harder. olf

It gets better guys! They told me the car would be ready on Friday at 5 pm. At about 4 PM they called me and stated that the tech was behind and that they would call me Saturday when it was ready. Well, by 11:30 am Saturday there was no word so I called them. The person that I was put in touch with said that the service writer I had been assigned to was not there and neither was the tech working my case. I made a joke out of it and said that the service writer must have forgot it was Friday when he told me the car would be ready the next day. ( that was a vain attempt top calm my wife down!) Anyway about 2:30 pm Saturday this same person I had talked to earlier in the day calls me and tells me that the tech had just finished the post service test drive and that the car was now NOT DRIVABLE! (When we took it in the first service writer told me the same tech spent over 30 minutes just trying to get the car to do what we said it does so he could have an idea of what was wrong. Now the car is not drivable!!) He told me that they needed my approval to re-diagnose the car and try again and he would call me with the cost when they knew what was wrong. Now keep up.....the first service guy that gave me the $3043.26 number told me that I was lucky because there was no hard part damage to the tranny so it was only in need of a new converter and a soft kit, meaning gaskets and o-rings etc. This second writer on Saturday now tells me that there was all kinds of metal shaving's etc in the tranny and that he didn't know why the first writer had not told me about it! Can you people believe this crap! This is a one of the largest Ford dealers in our area and they have those sickening commercials about being all about the community etc...Now the folks on the Thunderbird owners site from all over the country are telling me to sue! Anyone that knows me knows that I am very vocal about the over use of the Law suit in America today. I truly believe Law suit are destroying our country, so what do I do?

My next step would be to PM Charles (Ruagator) on here and get in contact with him.
I'm told that he's a damn fine attorney, and it is amazing what a calming effect a phone call from an attorney can have on a dealership like the one you're dealing with.

Charles is also 'engine smart', so they won't be able to snow him about all of the lurid details. I'd send that PM.
