continental 0520 oil cooler

Need some guidance on plumbing in a ext oil cooler, i have taken the factory cooler mounting plate off of the engine which leaves the 2 ports visable (input and output). My question is do i tap threads into these ports for ext cooler line hook up or is there a adapter plate that is used to hook up cooler lines. Thanks for any help

You dont want to tap the case on the 470/520's, they are kind of thin right there. Intead make an adaptor plate out of 3/8-7/16 thick aluminum and tap your threads into that. Most setups I use and see have 1/2 ntp to -8 an fittings for the oil cooler lines.
