Continental starter

I am building a 520 continental and i need to make a decesion on which starter to run. I would like to stay with the right angle drive aircraft starter to keep the clean lines of not having a flywheel at the rear of the motor, but some people have told me the aircraft starters suck. Has anyone had any problems with these starters or the right angle adapters?
If I do stay with the aircraft starter it would probably be the high torque, gear reducted unit from skytec. Any help would be appreciated.

a friend of mine had one on a 0470 and that thing tore up almost every time we got the boat in the water.all i know is air craft starters cost more than a gm high torque starter .

Can't comment on an aircraft starter. Have never used one. But, I am a vocal supporter of high torques Jap conversions.

Swapped my old Dodge truck starter for a Airtec (airtec@cfl.rr.com) conversion kit and a Nippaninzo (sp?) high torque unit. Solved a very aggrivating, nagging problem.

Starters on airboats are the source of much pain and agony. Performance is much more satisfying than good looks.
