cross over exhaust

A while back, there was a post with a picture of a cross over exhaust on an aircraft powered boat.... I think the the fabricator had a flex joint coming out of the headers and then a couple of 45 or 90 degree angled pipes coming together ( cut and welded) and then exiting back to mufflers. I did a search, but couldn't find it ...Can anyone point me to the post ? thanks

Cowboy, I think he might be talking about swampjets system. He has those flex connectors. Maybe there is a pic in swampjets gallery

Joe, PM me if you need info on it. I've got about $900. in the system including mufflers and its not finished yet. Honestly it helps with sound levels but is costly. A really good set of mufflers is cheaper.

This the one Joe?

I don't know if that thread is still around or not.
I remember discussing different types of A/C exhaust with Jim.
He did not think 4 into 1 sytems were worth a crap.
Don't remember what he said aboat this configuration.
I think it could help performance better than a 4-into1, but that one pictured is BIG $$$$$$

Cowboy, that's a beautiful system but it's so tightly built in around the oil pan that it would heat up the engine big time on an airboat. It was designed to be able to get everything inside a cowling on an airplane, where the airflow could be controlled.

Used as a model though, with the crossovers dropped down a couple of feet, it should be an excellent airboat setup in my opinion.

I was the first one to respond to Joe, but for some reason, the display order of the posts was messed up.

I just whent ahead and put those pictures in 0550's post who was the second one to reply. I wasn'nt really jumping in late saying look at this one.

I saw that picture on an a/c custom exhaust site, and you could get a good running used boat for what they charge for one!

Cowboy, your post was right after joe's first post but for some reason mine got posted above yours instead of below it. That is the first time I saw that happen.

I guess I need to wake up this thread again-- I'm building a custom trike for Janet and am looking at using the flex connectors shown in the pic on the exhaust for the bike -- anyone know who sells them ? Thanks !!

I would rather have some headers with longer tubes but I am just runnin the block hugger headers that were on it, about the only good thing about them is that I can make the exhaust tight and streamlined like that. I bought a universal x pipe kit from Jegs and it fit great. I pickup up about 100-150 rpm with the new 2.25" x pipe exhaust over the old dual 2.5" it had on it.

Northwest, you've just proven a point I've been trying to make for some time.
A properly designed exhaust system doesn't have to cost a fortune to be quieter, and it won't kill your engine.

To the contrary, it will make more torque than open pipes. :)
