Anybody know where I can airboat amongst the cypress trees?
Looking to run the short grass, skinny water prarries, with Cypress Heads towering.

1 hour north of psl the upper st johns river between melbourne and titusville there are numerus spots

IF you come up 95 to 192 head west about 1-2 miles to camp holly drop in there and go south and you will see a bounch of cypress trees but for some reason they atract the boats to run in to them. alot very little water just came in this morning from there and there is places to camp just go to fwc web site and get the map for upper st johns. north of 192 there is oak tree heads and cypress heads and alot of places to camp. lots of trails in both places.

As someone else said, if you go out of Camp Holly and go south you can take a trail west off the river and get to the edge of the Jane Green swamp. You can ride through a cypress trail past Spade Island (which is a camping site with some beautiful cypress trees), or go back into the deep cypress if there is enough water. It's a great ride, with some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.

Here are some photos: http://www.marshbunny.com/mbunny/boats/ ... index.html

and this page has free downloads of wallpaper of some cypress scenes there (including Spade Island), and a map of the St. Johns with campsites and other landmarks:

Thanks for the reply Marshbunny,
I'm gonna try finding those areas as soon as I can.
I have seen your site before, and really enjoyed it.

Same here Marshbunny, I've really enjoyed your site also, especially the river stories.
Thanks

Thanks, guys!

I got some good photos after the hurricanes, I just haven't had a chance to put them up.

The good thing about a hurricane is that afterwards there is enough water for me to take my boat to the cypress, but these storms rearranged a few landmarks. Small floating islands have broken off and drifted to new locations, changing a few long-established paths.

As soon as I get the photos up I'll post a link!

Hey cowboy new boat is ready to ride let me know when you want to get together and run up here

10-4
I just need my work load to slack up a little, but I had noticed you had it going and were happy with it. Post any pix of that rig yet?

I'll let you know when we can come up there. It will probably be as soon as the wind stops blowing every weekend, and I can get some of this crap done around here. We have three boats to bring, and looking forward to trying some new trails.

I am planning to try and organize one of those monthly rides on Okeechobee also. Hope alot of the folks on here will want to come out there. I'll be planning to get to one of the other Southern Airboat member rides the first chance I get.

Stay Cool

this is where I would like to go for the 1st monthly ride on May 28th out of camp holly at 9:00
