December 29 Feast - Food Items needed and Cooks needed

I know we are still about two and a half weeks out on this terrific event...BUT...Santa is right slap dab in the middle of it all...SO...let's try to get the main food items pinned down.

I'm bringing 250# of Uncle John's Pride sausages and about 50# of Key West Pink Florida shrimp for de gumbo.

Grant and Sawgrass U Alumni, Cntry141iq and Stan have volunteered froggies and the stuff to fry 'em up in.

We have not yet gotten a volunteer to get the swamp cabbage Cherpa has promised to cook.

Since DBrewster has now got the baddest azz, gonna whip ya silly, 0-My Gosh- 520...maybe he can get a runnin' start into the cabbages and capture a dozen or so as they lay down flat from the hurricane that monster is now making???? Or, is it All Talk??

Bunz...we need about 400 sausage buns...????

Napkins, mustard, ketchup, hot relish, chopped onions????

Still don't have a cheese grits cook / sponsor?????

What about a few flats of yellow rice and black beans?????

There was an earlier mention of Boston Butts?????

Surely there are some other hidden specialties out there just cryin for an appreciative audience...

Jump right in and list more needs or - better yet - help tote the load...

Yo, Painterchic, baby, sweatheart, etc., etc., you asked what to bring...how about some "Weber's" horseradish mustard from Buffalo ? Just a thought, it would be like you never left home.

A friend of mine just told me that you can buy cabbage heads for swamp cabbage some where out in Okeechobee. If anyone knows where this is or has a contact number let me know. I would be willing to buy some for the event. I would think 10-12 heads. Swampcritter said she could bring 3.

Should we bring our own propane burners. What cooking facilities are at the camp?
I'm gonna roast some pork legs, make black beans & rice.

All the BBQ grills at the AAOF club are charcoal. there are no propane grills there. If you want to cook with gas, bring your burners with you.

You rang sweetums??? I'll see what I can find for you... how much you thinkin?? I'm heading toward Buffalo on Sat to catch up with Bigkavr to give him Mrs. Marquis Giftbasket.... if you can give me an idea of how much you are looking for, I can see what I can get on the way through! I know this is going to sound like a stupid question most likely... but is there a grocery store within driving distance of the AAOF camp??? I could pick up some other stuff once I get there if I know there is a place to stop...

I'm bringin a burner, pot, and two fresh tanks ...... I plan to make my stuff available to anyone who needs it and just help out where I can.

If we need Ice or anything else while we're there, just tell me ...... I'll keep a list of 'last minutes' and be the Go'fer. :)

Well I want to see some updates on this grits dish after the weekend is over.

I want to see if they are gonna make the cut, or if they should fly back north. :D

OHHHH no.... no updates... if you aren't gonna taste test them yourself, then you can't have a say whether or not the cook has to fly home sooner than expected.... that would be hearsay and it would be thrown out in court....

There is a grocery store and anything else you want or need. you just have to drive a little ways. The AAOF club is about 8 miles from US 27 and HWY 41 they call it Dade Corners. If you drive East through that intersection and go about another 5miles (Approx.) You are in West Miami. There is all the stores that you need. There is Gas, ice, Beer and cold drinks at Dade Corners at the convient store there.
