Diamondback Garage Sale

Speaking of Diamondback...what's the bottom line on them these days? I used to live in Melbourne and back then everybody there thought they were the greatest thing since Beanie Weanies. Lately I've been hearing things about them really slippin' up in the past couple of years and not really offering a reliable boat. For y'all Diamondback boys, is this true?

Sounds like you've been talking to people who probably can't shell out the $30-60k it takes to own one of their boats...... My advice would be to drop by their facility, talk to them, go drive one of their boats, and decide for yourself.

Pretty impressive operation and group of people in my book..............

Thirty to Sixty thousand dollars???? For that kind of money my polymer had better be STRAIT from the get go and not filled with epoxy to hide it.
That's more than I paid for my 2006 GMC crew cab 4wd.
They are nice and all, but when you pay that much for anything your paying for service not just the product.

SGShooter, I've heard it from Diamondback owners, I don't repeat things without some verification.

Just got a quote for a boat.. Boat has all of the bells and whistles no doubt but it is a Riveted deck over with SV 0540. Single front, double back, front jump seat, Chrome-Moly rigging, trailer, prop. Out the door price was 49K and change. This was for some one not me. I thought was a little high however, I had a lot of trouble getting some MFG,s to even want to do buisness. Where as DB said they could have the boat by end of Feb.

The reason why I was asking about Diamondback is because I'll be buying another boat within the next year. Before I dish out some of my hard earned money, I'd like to know the facts. If anybody has any insight into the best built boat, I'd like for you to speak up. These are the manufacturers I'm considering in order of preference:

1. Hamant
2. Diamondback
3. Panther

I'm going to get an aluminum deck boat this time, so if any of y'all know any inside info please let me know.

Bohawg,

I assume you are talking welded deck over. I know hamant does not make a riveted boat and I believe panther does not either. Personally I think you have the order correct.

If you want a great all around boat get a hamant and they will rivit the hull if you ask them

If you get the hull you want I can build it how ever you want and it will be less than any buddy and my turn around time is only about 4 weeks for a turn key boat when I get the hull

if you want a boat that rides on the nose get a diamond back if you want a boat that slides all over get a panther

if you want a good all around boat get a hamant or alumitec
I seen them rivit one but I guess your wright they just rivit the deck on

CC,

I just talked with the hamant boys about two weeks ago and they said they would not build me a fully riveted boat. Are you saying they build them or that they will rivet the deck on??

I have had my Diamondback for three years and it has been thru hell and back doing rescues, I paid 23,000.00 for my boat when I first got it and that was with a trailer and they have been very good to me over the years and the boat has never road on the nose so I don't know where that is comming from and it still looks as good as the day I bought and if I ever have another boat built it will be another Diamondback.

Sniper; You got lucky man Diamond Back car motor boats are known for riding on their nose. Every once in a while they spit one out that doesn't but it is a rare occurrence indeed.

If ever there was a boat that you would think would ride on it's nose it would be mine. 20' with a big block 572 and counter rotation. She's a heavy girl. But I'm here to tell you that boat flat out jumps on plane. Saturday we had the boat loaded with 2500 lbs of gear including five guys to duck hunt on the Great Salt Lake. I had that boat screaming at 40 MPH and got 10 miles out on the lake in no time. By the way....the duck hunting was great....35 ducks in about an hour.

You guys who are or may be coming up from south Florida for the garage sale on Saturday should head just a couple miles up the road and join us at the wedding - after the garage sale.

The pdf flyer says the sales winds up at 2 on saturday - cut outta there a little early and meet us on the hill for a 3 o'clock ceremony and bbq after.

If this is turning into another one of those chest thumping "mine is better" threads.... I'll throw down for Hamant. While my boat was out of commission (half the summer) - I got to ride on a lot of different boats. EVERY BOAT HAS IT'S GOOD & BAD POINTS. But soon, when I switch over to an aluminum hull, I'm going with a Hamant.

Both Cchardt's and Safari Ricks Hamant hulls (same size and model) ride like a dream in both skinny water and for deep water - I've never felt a better riding hull.

Good Luck with whatever you choose BoHawg. We'll be in line shortly after you. I hope to have the pleasure of meeting you one of these days. We live in the same town.

matt.

Thanks for the info y'all. I didn't mean to start anything, I just want to make the best decision that I can this time.

Moodfood, just a matter of time brother. We'll meet up sometime I'm sure.

I'm real pleased with my Hamant deckover!!! The workmanship looks great and she handles like a charm!!!
I know the Big Gobbler swears by Diamondback and there are too many guys who do the same for them to be crappy. Same with Alumitech. Try and ride them all and see what you like best.

Adam
