I have a diamondback airboat pretty nice boat but has been sitting for few years. its a big boat and has a 454 ran great before sitting. I was working on it for someone and put alot of my money in it and havent heard from the guy in over 5 years do the boats have papers or do they have to be registered or is there anyway i could sell it or part it out. thanks

Go to your local Office Supply store. Ask for their forms department. Get the "Mechanics Lean" form. Begin by filing that then you can ask for the court to award ownership. You may have to file other forms as well but that one shows you did un paid for work.

We have some legal folks on here they might be able to be a bit more specific, but that shoulld get ya moving on it.

How much does he owe you? I"ll pick up the tab if I can take the boat! State laws vary but WB is correct with the mechanics lein as far as I know.

I'll pick up the tab and give an extra $500 to take the boat. I always have to register the boats as homebuilt anyway. I know in Florida I always get a title with the boat. Here in Iowa we just need a registration unless they are over 17 feet long. Post a picture.

I would get the mechanics lien and don't forget to add storage. Say $2.00 per day for five years plus your other labor and parts.

storage rates in florida are 20 bucks a day. I have friends who own wreckers who make a livin off impound cars and boats and such. There is more to it in florida but don't know about ms.

Some states have a time limit as well. Impounded cars are forfeited if not picked up within the allotted time. I'm wondering if this applies to repair shops too. Five years is a long damn time to take care of someones boat for free even when not counting the repairs you've done to it. That boat might have been reported stolen for insurance money....you never know.

getting the title is a lot of paperwork even for companies that are in the business of forfieted cars. It is far from automaticly issued. Most I know actualyy hire a title person to follow through on them.
