I am coming down to West Palm Beach on the 21st and will be in Fla until the 1st and my Mom wants me to take her and two friends of hers on a little picture taking ride to 2A, I had directions from a few years ago but I seem to have misplaced them so if some one could give them to me again from West palm I would appreciate it and if any one would like to come with us I plan on going Saturday the 22nd I would also be interested in riding with any one that is going to be going any where else that reasonably close that week, I will be at the ride on the 29th as well

Best way from West Palm would be take US-441 (State Road 7) south until you reach Loxahatchee Road, then right (west) till the end. At the end of Lox Road the hard road will end, go to the top of the levee and make a left before entering the day use area. Airboats launch approx. 300 yards south of the Day Use area entrance.

Traffic on 441 shouldn't be an issue until you near Glades Road. There's a pretty big mall there, so for a mile or so it'll probably be stop and go. Lox Road is approx. 4 miles south of Glades.......it's the first light when you enter Broward County after crossing over Hillsboro Canal.

There was a mid-air aircraft accident two weeks ago in 2A, and the area was closed to rec use all last week. While I can't imagine it's still closed, you may want to call South Florida Water Management District at 561-686-8800 before you venture down (ask if 2A at Lox Road is still closed to rec use because of the plane accident). I spoke with them last Thursday, and they said it "was closed until further notice".

Just a thought. I hunt LWR (not in my airboat :x ) and Area2. I don't know how fast you can trailer but, you might want to consider the FL Turnpike. to Glades Rd. and then head West to 441. There is plenty of traffic on 441/SR 7 and lots of lights going from W.P.B. to Boca.

I have my m.in law on vacation here from VA. I need to take her out on it and would not mind riding with any SA members on Sat. 561-856-3271
