I have a friend who wants his poly riveted for a clean job on a 8/14 river master. He wants to run the gulf. the places i called to day either wanted to sheet metal screw it or bolt it on. I don't run poly so any advice on whats the best cleanest way to do it would be appreciated/

A friend of mine has a rivermaster that was run in the gulf and it has the poly bolted on with self-tapping screws that were then ground flush with the bottom. It seems to be holding on well, hasn't had any problems with it coming loose or leaking and he runs the boat pretty hard.

13 ft. lazer hull we riveted ours using buck rivites nice smotth can walk in hull barefooted can get rivets at air craft fastener supply stores have 1/4 in or 3/16 in. theres many lengths we used 3/16 on ours had no problems with them easy to install

yes it sucked up tight use an air hammer and a 6 pound hammer head as a backing for pressure it the ever happen to leak u can tight them up some more the bottom will be smotth as a baby's ass no screw holes or divets the rivets have a taperd seat with
a flat head

we going giging a lot. oyster bars are ruff on the bottom and have never pulled a rivet out run on the sandy or rocky roads to smotth the bottom out after wards to slicken the poly back up as the oysters rip the bottom up bad

the harder u hammer on the rivets it gets tighter and better sealing strength
it takes longer to do but is worth the time really looks nice after wards

I guess I learned something new today!

I never would have thought fiberglass would have stood up to a rivet being bucked!

See there, even though I am old and crotchety I still can learn something new :)

That's airboating at its finest, someone tell you something wont work, hell give it a try anyway, they may not know what they are talking about!

as long as u have a helper holding a lot of pressure on the back of the rivets with the hammer .then you are not hurting the hull just beating the rivets

ive never done it, always just counter-sank bolts on it but if ya'll say rivets work then thats sounds like an idea and i might lok into it for my next sheet :?

The good thing about rivets is that 1 lb of rivets will put on 1 sheet of polymer as for nuts and bolts your looking at about 20 lbs or more of stainless hardware to hold a sheet on.
I always ed wondered if it would work heck I might just have to try it.
