Duck hunting southern glades ? Anyone?

This is a long shot but I don't know where and how to duck hunt in the glades.

I hunted the St Johns river and Lake O many times.

This year Id really like to duck hunt closer but I don't know the Glades area.

Any airboaters duck hunt north of 41 in the glades?

Looking for other airboaters that know the area and are willing to let us hang with them.


It's just 1 airboat with myself and my 8 year old son..

Do you mind ring necks? It's what mostly shows up down here. A few mottled here and there. You want blue wing, green wing, pin tails, you gotta go to 2A or north to the STA's. I settle for north side of the Trail...close to home... and be back by noon. Ringers, gotta love 'em.

You dump your stuff at the clump of grass you're hiding in, throw out a few dekes cause you have 'em, stash your boat behind a head, cover it with camo netting, get in your float tube cause the water is high as heck, meander back to your clump...in gator infested waters, hope there are no holes in your waders, wait 'till they fly over, resist sky-blasting, shoot a couple hear and there, forget the calls...they don't care, have some hot coffee, go fetch once you're done, hope you didn't forget where they landed. Forget the dog...it will get eaten by a gator. Don't shoot the coots that are all around. They don't taste the best.
Back at the ramp by 11:00.
Breast the ducks.
Go home put breasts in Italian dressing.
Mow yard.
Enjoy grilled duck for supper.

Hey brother, I'll be glad to put some steel shot in the air with you north of 41. It's a quick haul from home in Kendall. Will hook up.

It's been a while for me, but I used to spend a lot of time hunting there. Mostly by jon boat using the 'swamp access points' from the L-67 canal. The further south access points, (closer to 41 than Holiday park), held enormous amounts of ringers. With an airboat you should have no trouble finding birds. Just set up for your morning hunt and watch where the majority of the birds pitch in. Then around 10 am or so take a ride and you will find ponds with 20 or more birds feeding. Mark it on your gps and be back there before daylight the next day. You will have a good shoot. Good luck.

Great information. It's really appreciated. I'm excited to try and hunt close by. I know it's not the best duck hunting but it will be some fun.


I plan on scouting out the area if the cool weather kicks in right before it opens.

I ran out this past week in 3a saw rimhneckw but not many.
I think alittle cold front helps bring them back.

Let a cold front push some down. When they first get down here they're lean and ripped. Let them hang around a while, fatten up a bit…then blast them, breast 'em and eat 'em.
Our duck hunting down here leaves a lot to be desired. You get up past area 2, the STA's and further and you run into better duck areas.

Thanks for the reply, I too went out last week and saw a few. Saw a bunch of hunters on the trail this morning, mud boats and air boats. Thought you guys may have been out there. I'm going Monday with my two sons, Ill let you all know how we do.
