Ecotec I4 engine identification

What OneBFC said... I refrained from responding about AFI bc I would blow up with negativity.

Enjoy your LTG! I am still in debate over LHU or LTG... LHU seems the simplest and easiest to modify at this time with aftermarket parts as I am after 500HP+ on E85.

Hey Guys
I got another question on the boat I bought Ive got some moisture in a couple of the gauges. I think the old ones are automotive gauges. I want to replace them all from what I have read their can bus gauges I would like to get marine grade gauges. The ones I found were for mefi only that won't work on a LTG correct.
Anyone know where I can find the correct gauges are they available in marine grade. What are you guys using.

There are no marine gauges that will work with GMLAN.

Option 1: Get a sealed box to put them in...
Option 2: Call marinemods.us and get a can 2 can gateway that will run Marine gauges GMLAN to NEMA2k

Thank You I don't know all the lingo of the electronic stuff but I know I don't want a repeat of water in gauges I would like to get water proof gauges.

thanks again

Gmlan is GM proprietery high speed Canbus language.

The only way to go straight marine analog on an ecotec boat is add sensors you need and you can splice into the crank wiring.

I guess what I really should have said was I wanted to get water proof gauges I just associate marine gauges with water proof.

One thing is certain if the guages are exposed they will fog or get condensation to some degree over time I don't care what brand.

I put mine inside of a Nema enclosure type console and have a tight rubber grommet around the wire entry. Never have a issue with condensation. Key is keeping moisture out and best way is to keep a good seal on top of gauges

FYI

Vehicle Can uses J2284. We don't have any protocols that can change that data besides the Can2Can adapter as your mentioned. We're primarily J1939 and Nmea2k oriented. I will get back to you if I find any additional information.

Got a question for you ecotec guys I plug in my automotive scanner it would not recognize the ltg engine wanted to know what type of car it was. From what I know it was a new crate engine. I never messed with the scanner to much so I am not real familiar with it.

GM makes a standalone harness for the LTG I believe jegs and summit sales it and also pace performance. I'm running a 2.0 LHU like Russ but I'm running on a 2010 lnf harness and ecm I got my harness from cbm Motorsports. So far I have a little over 170 hours on it with no issues very happy with the power and fuel economy.

I know this is a few years old but and its a long shot but did you use the e69 ecm when using the lnf harness?
I have a lnf that I am putting on my 13 foot hull.
I seen what Russ said about using the harness and ecm out of a regal I just already have the e69 and was wondering how its doing if still on the boat ?

I don't know if the E69 will work with the LNF or not but I think one of the proven ECM'S is the E39A with the appropriate harness. I would follow one of the proven recipes. I was smart and tried something a bit different on my LTG .....the E80...... and it still is not working right. My fall back plan is to start with the 2014 Buick regal harness and E39A ECM for my LTG.

Sorry for the first link. Use the year 2014. Next use Cadillac as make. Select ATS as the model. Click 2.0l Turbo as your engine

Use https://www.car-part.com

Use the Carpart search engine for a cheap Engine Computer. Use the year 2014 for a Cadillac ATS. Selecting a part, look for Engine computer.
The Carpart search will show you all the Computers {Part Number: 12653998}. I would restrict the search to the state of Louisiana. Carpart shows all the models that the Computer was in. Same as the AC DELCO part search. https://parts-catalog.acdelco.com/catalog/BuyersGuideSearch.php?BGRequest=1&part=12653998&catalog=5560&parttype=10543

LNF, LDK, LHU, LTG can all be run off E39A ECM

For lnf, ldk, lhu you want a 2012 Buick regal manual set up for lhu

For ltg you want a 2014 Buick regal manual ecm

If you wanna plug and go get the gmpp kit for ltg with e92 but its $$$... vs e39a and tuning the bs out

GM discontinued the standalone ECM and harness for the LTG. I tried to order one a few months ago. It was discontinued in December or last year. You may still see if listed for sale on a few sites but there are none out there. I tried for 3 weeks to find one.
