electric water pump

I have asked the same question in previous posts and I can't really see any downsides however I don't know the reliable proven brands to go with! 8)

I WAS JUST THINKING THE AMPS! THAT THEY WOULD DRAW GOT TO BE UP THERE ! ALWAYS THOUGHT TWO PULLEYS ON THE PUMP ! THAT WAY THE ELECTIC WENT BAD ! JUST PUT THE A LONGER BELT ON ! FOR THE BIG BLOCKS IDLEING AROUND FROGING ! BUT YOU ARE NOT PULLING AIR ACROSS THE RAD ! SO YOUR BACK TO SAME DEAL !YOU FAN THE RADITOR ! BUT REALLY OVER DOING A SIMPLE DEAL !ELECTRIC PUMPS JUST FOR HIGH OUT PUT MOTORS THAT NEED THE HOT SPOTS COOLED !I DONT THINK IT WOULD SAVE YOU NO HP ! JUST THINKING OUT LOUD !

6 one half dozen the other. I run electric water pumps for a different reason then horsepower. I have ran CSI and Meziere with out a single problem. When we go exploring the air-cooled boats start over heating all my buddies stop and idle until their boat cools off. I just shut off my motor and wait for them to get cool enough to run some more. While I do this I just leave on my water pump and my motor cools completely off as if it was never running. The other reasons are I can't get my motor hot it stays around 150 I made it this way for running dry for long periods of time. However when I race I leave my water pump off to get my motor to 180-190 so my motor will make max power! Electric water pumps aren't for everyone however personally I wouldn't have it any other way.

Thunder, this is kind of along the same question .....

My cast iron small block has a pipe plug in the block between #1 and #3 cylinders. Would that be a better place for the water temperature sender than taking the temp up at the intake manifold, or does it matter that much ?
Thanks.

Their are two popular way's to read your water temp . The hottest area in your motor is in the combustion chamber so the water in the heads is hotter then most of your cooling system. Puting your sending unit their will give you a high water temp for the whole cooling system but it will give you water temp at the heads. Most water temp numbers are more of an average and the temp in your intake would be what most people base numbers on. 90% of water temp's are based on the temp as the water leaves the motor because that is where your thermostat or restrictor is located.
