Sandpaper is the absolute worst thing you can do to a set of points.
Metal transfer from one point to the other, and back again, begins within one minute
after a new set of points are installed, and the engine started.
Transfer is normal, and of no consequence. The Slick mag is adjusted by setting the 'E'-gap.
Setting the 'E'-gap, or 'efficiency' gap, involves positioning the magnet at its optimum location,
using a special tool, .060 thick. The points are then adjusted using a 'buzz' box, so the light just goes out.
Therefore, the mound on the points DOESNT matter.
