everglades Area 3a

Moods maps are great. I got the one of 3A. It shows basically from 27 west to Duck Camp, and north to 75.
It shows both major and minor trails, great to explore with. If you would like to see it let me know we can meet up.

LOL you guys.... thanks! But at THIS MOMENT, I only have the middle section of 3A done.

Shawn - it's a beautifully detailed aerial photo about 20 miles by 10 miles starting at the SW corner of I75 and US27.

After attending the show this weekend, I'm motivated to get going on mapping out some other areas. LOX and Area 2 are still high on the list, but so are getting the southern part of 3A done too.

And the GREAT FOLKS of the AAoF need a map of the area south of Tamiami too.

The only map that is out right now are based on 30 year old topo maps and SFWM "sketches".

After speaking to the Fire/Rescue team that was at the show, they are interested in some maps too, and everyone wants GPS coords. So that's where my focus is going to be.

My problem is that the area is so huge, to make a map that shows the detail I want to show - PHOTOGRAPHS of trails where you can see a trail the width of a single boat, well, the entire glades would take 20 (expensive) maps to show it all. I'm thinking the aerial is going to be out.

I've got some other ideas, and later on when the water is up a little, I think Laura and I are going to take our boat (hopefully once we get a new boat) and spend a week or two out there just mapping and confirming GPS coords.

We also want to consult with local owners and be sure we are not intruding or giving out any info that shold stay silent.

Doc Holiday - I missed you at the show this weekend! PM me when you get a chance.
Wildhair - WHERE DID YOU GO???? You bought a map from me, asked me to hold it, then never came back!!! PM me.

that's my map update, Folks.

:)

All the gps locations were given to SFLWMD when the camps had to be registered. Mood, try to time your visit around the 4th Wednesday of the month. You can attend the Broward Club meeting and I'll bet you will get an invite to stay at someones camp.

My neighbor flys 3 times a week over these areas. He takes trackers from the wildlife commission tracking panthers and other wildlife. I'll talk to him to see what it would take to photograph areas and what other resources are being utilized.

Mon ,Wed & Fridays are the days I've heard the panther staff does aerial tracking.
I realize your neighbors busy staying on course while flying the pattern they do ,but ask him if they've detected signals near the NE corner of Turner River rd and the Tamiami trail . Last year I watched a plane circle that corner for almost an 1/2 hour , a week prior I seen a collared cat in the area .

He might not be allowed to disclose any information .

Thanks
Robert

I am more interested in learning about how the trails run. I have put in at mm41 and also ran out of holiday park and I think a map would help tie it all together. but thanks for you help!
