When I got back to the boat ramp on wednesday I found a note on my truck from our local FWC officer....

As of Monday 7-18-2005 Rottenburger, Holy Lands, Francis Taylor, Everglades Area 3a North, 3a South, 2b, and part of 2a are going to be CLOSED TO PUBLIC ACCESS due to high water conditions until further notice. Please spread the word.

I called the local FWC supervisor to verify the information and he confirmed the areas will be CLOSED. He also confirmed that part of Area 2a will remain open, South of the posted East/West trail to the L-35b levee. He could not say how long the area would be closed for.

Could one of you guys who knows how, put the picture from my gallery on this post to show the areas to be closed, Thanks

Here's the press release regarding the closure:

This happened last year. I don't remember when they reopened the areas.....you could probably look on the FWC website for more information.

While it doesn't effect me personally (I airboat almost exclusively in WCA-2A, south of the East-West trail, I feel for those who have camps in WCA-3. And with hurricane season just starting, it's probably not going to get any better for some time.

Reckon I'll see more of you up in "my" area!!! But heed the warning I received from FWC last week.......don't drink and boat!!!

Last year they reopened it up late Nov. just in time for hunting season. I'm guessing it will be late Nov. or up untill mid Dec. until it's opened this time.

Just seen on the 5 o clock news the reaseion for closen the everglades. Is do to high waters the deer and other wild life is lookin higher grounds. And they don't wont bochers after the wild life. Like that is going to stop someone from huntin out of season.

I was by Cornwell Locks yesterday had a big steel gate across the reguler boat ramp. But the airboat ramp was open. Folk had been using the the airboat ramp. There was fresh tire tracks in it. There was also someone campin there with a air boat.
