No problems at my place. Judging from the radar & news, I would imagine Gatorchaser's place is okay. Don't know about Stan though, he's a lot closer to the Deland area.

Everythings OK here, Looks like lady lake and deland got the worst of it. Hope stan and the lake county crew are ok.

Stan is ok. Storm missed his house. Just spoke to him on the phone for only a sec - he seemed busy getting tractors and bulldozers out to help others. Stan bein' Stan. :)

I hope the rest of our gang got missed by this one. It was a bad storm!!!

Too close for comfort Jim. That's about how far we were from the Deland cell. The weather radio went off, so we were awake & I was watching that storm from my back patio.

You know guys I don't have a weather radio, but I think I'm gonna go out and get one. Is Radio Shack's stuff OK ? olf

After sleeping threw the stormes of 98 that was the first thing I went out and got. As long as you ask if it is one that cut it's self on and has a battery back up it will work fine. I hope everyone will look into getting one of these. It will at least get you up and you can look at NOAA and see what is going on.

It went about over Lady Lake, Leesburg, Paisley, Deland, and New Smyrna. I just found out there was some big damage just 4-5 miles north of us.

There was not much wind here, just heavy rain. My friend in Altoona said it sounded like WW1. It went right over them, but it let up when it did.

It seems to be ok here but there were some tornadoes spotted down south near Grant and Fellsmere. Have not heard anything about damage. Alot of rain which was good. Sorry about the damage though. Not supposed to be storms like this is January.

Several people in the area around my house were killed (Lake County area just outside western DeLand). A good friends (Lives 1 mile away) two story house turned into a single story house in seconds as his family slept in the upper floor. They all lived so far but his son has bleeding in the brain and is in surgery.

I am a road patrol sergeant for DeLand PD and got the call to bring in my shift to work the damage. It must be seen to believe. No deaths found inside the city, I don't know how.

There are jet skis and a chevy S-10 truck in trees 30 feet in the air. I found a mobile home frame wrapped around an oak tree but the rest was blown away. My friends Ford Taurus was tossed into the woods and his brand new pole barn is gone, not broken up just completely gone.

I will be working the rest of the weekend then back to my regular shift on Monday so the long awaited new hull to be made will have to wait a week or so. It does not seem so important to get it done anyway.

I hope everyone else is OK.

Thin Water,

Sorry about your friends losses. Yeah, the things we thought were so important just don't seem so important anymore. It's hard to look at the tv right now, so much devistation. At least they have people like you there to help.

I am right here in Lady Lake and it sure was bad!! My place was not damaged though... I got called out at 0330 and just spent the past 16 hours in The Villages, FL where there was quite a bit of damage. Death toll is now at 19 according to the news...

Got to hit the sack early, I'm due back on patrol at 0530.....

Here are a few pictures of one of the areas I worked today. The pictures don't do it justice. It may not look like much but it was all a lot of retired people had. Most could not get insurance since it is Florida and the mobile homes were old. I saw nice houses that held up no better. No deaths in this area.

Hey all. Prayers to all who were affected by this horrible storm. The pictures really don't do justice.
