Exhaust Cones

Has anybody ever used exhaust cone inserts like the Vortex? I recently had to ditch my mufflers due to excessive back pressure. Right now running open exhaust (I have 4 feet of 3" flex pipe after the headers) which I'm sure doesn't make me any fans. I don't see how an insert could reduce sound levels that much but worth a consideration. Also, open to any muffler suggestions. I need to keep overall length as short as practical and want stainless. I'm looking at offerings from Kook that are about 16" overall. Magnaflow and Dyna have mufflers in the 19" range but 16" sounds closer to what I'm looking for. The long tube headers and through hull exhaust makes it tough to fit long mufflers.

I put cones inside mufflers on Geralds screamin eagle, I build them from perforated stainless, and make them longer than store bought units, can insert them into 3' tube of any length needed.

not to hijack the thread but I'm also trying to find the shortest for aircraft.. I'm in same boat as diggin..the way my cage etc is setup & thru hull exhaust I keep breaking the flex in 2mnths because it's under so much stress..
