EXHAUST SET UP

I am looking at diffrent ways to mount my new system but the best set up for me might not be such a good idea. Because of my set up mounting the mufflers strait to the headers and then running the pipes throught the tranom works best for me. If I mount my Summit SS mufflers down at the transom it will abstruct my airflow. I am scared if I mount strait to the header it will cook the mufflers. I am also installing vortex insert cones in the ends of my headers. The rest of my system is SS 3" mandrel bent pipe with an 8" piece of tripple braided SS flex hose. If you have any suggestions I am all ears.

Whoa ! Nice system.
Just in my opinion Crow, the amount of airflow that a couple of mufflers might cost you will be barely noticed, if at all. I'm planning something similar and I'm going to put the flex mess couplings at the headers.
I think putting the mufflers that high in the flow would cook them and also, the weight of them up that high would create other problems like cracking a header.

I'd go with flex mess off the headers, and transom mount the mufflers. JMO

Check out Burns Stainless they make really nice quality stuff. They have collector mufflers, probably not the type of muffler you are looking for, but you can get some ideas. I purchased a set of ultra light mufflers and ran them down through my transom.

The mufflers are SUM-630430, when you mount them in my boat the wide sides of thess mufflers are faceing foward. Does it really matter which end is the inlet? If I mount these mufflers at the transom I will have to use a 90 degree mandrel! The pipe will come strait down 12" then turn to the transom.

The turn will make them quieter. With 3" you'll still have planty of flow.
They'll mount for inlet either way.

Guys these reason I am nervious about the cross area of these mufflers blocking my air flow is because I already have restricted my airflow. I have expanded steel on my cage not wire, and I am going to shoot the whole cage with bed liner after I am done re-working my rudder mounts for the bigger prop. My whole cage weighs maybe a little over 100 lbs because I used real light expanded metal with big holes. I like the flow of the wire cages but I have had to many objects blow through the cage and hit my prop.

At 4800 or 5000, 3" won't hurt anything at all. Unless you stomp a pipe flat, nothing you can do will obstruct flow. Anything bigger will hurt bottom power. JMO (just my opinion)

I finished the exhaust and if I new how to i would post pictures. I went from the header with 3"X8" tripple braid ss flex into 3" 90 angle then the mufflers and out with a 3" 45 degree ss. I put the dyn SS insert cones in the header flanges also. I have no idea what it sounds like because I am waiting on my reduction to arrive before I start it up. We welded the flex to the header and to the pipe because there is not much flange on them to clamp.

Well I got my boat back togther today except fr the cage and rudders. The new exhaust system is spooky quiet. I can't thank you guys enough for you help with the system. From idle to 3500 the motor makes less noise then my powerstroke idling.

Crow, you send the picture to a place where it has a physical address, like photobucket or someplace you can store online. Then you right click on the pic. online and select properties. It will have a "properties" address that describes picture by where it is and what you named it. It'll be like a long email address with lots of slashes. Use your mouse and highlight the description address thing , then right click and copy. You will have to sweep across it to highlight the whole thing as the spce it's in is usually shorter than the desription and some of it is hidden til you sweep across it. You will click the IMG button on the reply to a post page where you type a relpy. The IMG will show up on where you write with a pair of brackets IIRC. You then paste the desription you copied and then click the IMG button again. This will "close" it ,if you will. When you post, it should show up as a picture. You can type in stuff after the second IMG and it'll show up as text under the picture. Keep in mind that I am ignorant of how to properly desribe this to you, but, it may work. Keep in mind, it may show up as a link at first and either it'll fix itself, or a moderator can turn the description into actual art if you ask. I ain't sure how mine got there, but they acted like a link at first, then all of a sudden, turned into a pic. Not too hard after you do it one time or two. POTTER

I just ordered my prop and when I have it back together I will post pictures. I should have the prop in 7-10 days.

listen there is no way we are waiting 7-10 days for a pic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
