Exhaust Temps

For an aircraft anything over 1100 degrees F or 600 C would be considered hot for Egt. 900 to 1000 normal and above 1200 is in the red. Hope that helps. I would rather check CHT than EGT. When flying we use EGT to adjust to peak for leaning the mixture control. EGT is kind of meaningless for airboats since we don't usually adjust mixture unless we are at higher elevations.

Hey Fatboy, I got one of those laser thermometers a while back intending to use it to check diff. parts of the exhaust system. I been having so much fun runnin the dang ting that I never have got around to it.

Remind me to bring it next time we run together and we'll try to get some numbers.

How's your coating holding up? I am going to have my next exh. system coated inside and out I think, hope it will stay on there.
