Exotics on Lake O?

I haven't heard of such as of yet. We were riding out of Moore Haven on Saturday but got tired of the rim canal and headed to north Highlands and south Polk county for better airboating activities. Lake O just doesn't have the type of riding we're looking for at this time. Maybe the big exotics rumor will entice a few to the area only to find a less than exciting airboating adventure.

The exotics are probably anyplace you can imagine. I get them up here in central Fl. and have talk guys thru to get them even in Mich. They don't survive long in the north but they do get loose or released up there too. The last reports I have heard of around the Big O they were some in there but were not in the great numbers as compared to the glades.Probably no worse than around say Sarasota, Tampa and so forth. The wildlife control guys might get 3-6 calls a month either on a sighting or an intrusion to private property. But anywhere from the north central section down they can and do survive. I've been involved with nuisance wildlife control for over 30+ years and have seen alot of stuff that doesn't belong here or anyplace in the U.S. Just always remember, they do taste like chicken. LOL. Later, Cajun

I built some traps for the wildlife guys down that way to deal with them.Heres a pic of them. The lizards were pizzing off alot folks down that way eating their flower gardens up. Also heres a pic of about a 5' Nile Monitor I got from some folks back yard. Meaner than %$#@. Cajun

why does that lizard look like its necks so long ? BTW cajun just got your package today, thanks alot, looks good!!

Hey Rich where are ya'll riding these days? I was there Sat. and it was miserable. I didn't check out the Lakeport side as I was informed it was no better. I ended up at a secluded lake in southern Polk County that is as clear as I've never seen it with a clean sand bottom that I've never seen either.

Cajun, I took a little of your work up here in N. Florida one night last week.
One of my neighbor ladies called me saying that there was a snake behind the washer and dryer they have in their garage.

I figured it was probably a little blacksnake or something, but when I got over there, here was the tail still stickin out from behind the washer and it wasn't any black snake. Best I could tell it was a young Burmese Python.
Beautiful. Maybe around 5' long.

Anyway, another neighbor was close by to help so I grabbed it by the tail and pulled him out and we dropped him in a big lawn leaf bag, put him in the back of my pickup, drove him down to the lake and released him.
Somebody in my neighborhood is probably missing a pet, but I wasn't in any mood to run an ad in the paper.

Olf I would think twice about posting the release of an exotic snake. FWC might not take to kindly of an act like that regardless of the circumstances. I understand pending legislation regarding exotic ownership is in the works as I type.

Thanks, Jdot. I wasn't the owner ...... I was the guy that was trying to get the thing out of her garage.

FWC can take their best shot since I'm so ignorant about snakes that I had no idea whether it was exotic or not. All I know is that it was a snake, and it was already "released". :)

rode sportsmans to indian prairie crossed over to the point of the reef...down to monkey box..to sportsmans, never left a foot of water for more than 5 minutes....

Yea Olf Art, no telling what kind it was , HUH? The neck on that lizard, I guess its just the way they are. I got bit by one of those about 6 years ago and it took the bite about 4 months to heal. Heres a better pic of what they look like on the ground. Later, Cajun

from sportsmans to Mctush canal you can ride to the reef no problem....to the north from lakeport lock to the river the whole bank is dry. You can't get within 500 yards of the mouth of the lakeport Harney pond canal..

Check out this interesting wreck that happened between Palmdale and Venus this week. There are a few more pics in my photo gallery.
