Extremely disappointed in blue poly

Anyone else have any issues with the "blue iron" poly wearing out WAY to fast? My boats poly was done about 10 years ago, which seems like I got a fair amount of life out of it, until you realize that we only use our airboats during duck season (October, Novermber, December and half way through January) Lets say I used it twice a week during the season it would make 30ish trips a year. times that by 10 years = 300 rides and its shot! it has gone from 3/8 thick to approx 1/16th in 300 rides. And that is being generous considering I don't typically take the airboat much in October and early November because I have my mud boat with a hyper drive on it. I do take it on the ice a fair amount but I wouldn't think it would rip the poly up this bad. I typically don't take my boat anywhere harsh enough to cause this much wear on it. All we have is the occasional sand bar, lots of mud and foliage.

Has anyone else had this poor of results with the blue poly? I'm frustrated that I have to buy more poly and do a poly job on this sucker so quick.

I was talking with my friend who has an identical setup as myself and substantially more powerful motor and drives a lot more dry area than me and his virgin black poly is holding up extremely well comparatively speaking.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

Thanks

Either go with the black or change it every 10 years. You could do steel flex and do it every year.

10 years sounds good to me for poly, I change mine about 3yrs. Where we fish is a little rough during the winter months.

I have not run the blue iron, but have run black, gray and gatorslide (had some extra material added) none of them have lasted any longer than the other.

all I ever see is the black Teflon down here in south la. if i get 10 years out of it i'm happy. don't know nothin about blue Teflon. seen a lot of white Teflon crack and break off when it gets old.

The good news is you have 10 years on! The other news is Blue Iron from Horn for airboats is gone. Nothing but old stock people are selling or liquidating at cost, or less.
Bought some Chicago dock stuff in the 90"s that lasted 16 years, but rarely encountered newer stuff but did survive a 3 foot airborne event in it's aging state. About equal to tough as nails but lasted longer than steel in a saltwater environment. It's a rec boat now for a saltwater inland fisher with close to 40 year old poly in the same state as it was installed.
