I hear you CNTRY - you have a valid opinion. VERY valid.
The FAA will have to put on a pretty good "show" for me to give cash. I'm not a pushover with them for sure! Neither is Adam from what I'm reading. And we ALL know that fire within Dakota! Dang Girl! She ain't no pushover either!!!!
But at the present time, the FAA is the only tool in our toolbox. It seems to me that until something else comes along, putting effort into making the FAA a better and more REPRESENTATIVE org is a good thing.
A candidate who comes along and says they intend on overhauling the FAA from top to bottom,
and shows a plausible plan for it is a candidate who will get my vote!
Improved (GREATLY IMPROVED) communication is another thing a candidate can say that will get my attention.
But they can't just SAY this stuff....
I want to see A PLAN. Something that leads me to believe it's more than an election promise.
I'd like to help meet that goal if they set it. I'll do what I can donating time and effort. BUT.....
If there is no change in the FAA's way of doing business, they'll lose my support. And probably many others too. They've ALREADY lost the support and confidence of many.
But if they show hope of being able to be turned around, I'll reconsider supporting them.
They are the best (only) thing we got going. I do not want to dwell on the past, but look to the future. A clean slate. Water under the bridge. But that change has gotta come.
If a vote ever comes up for 100% individual memberships with individual voting power, I'm in there in an instant with heart & soul. That's being a TRULY"representative org". The improved delegate system Capt. Dave brought up a short while back - well that's a definite step in the right direction.
But the delegate system as it is right now, just plain don't work. Face it. The FAA is a buddy-backslap organization at best. At least we're all airboatin' buddies. Well most of us are. Problem with that is, it touted as a representative org, which it most definitely is not!
It's more akin to a "trade association" because of all the commercial members. (& commercial interests) Not a "user group". That's gotta be fixed. If it is a "trade assn" then call it that and stop trying to be on both sides of the road. I have no problem with an aitboat trade association! So long as we know it's motives and loyalities.
rambling thoughts over.
