FAA meeting Feb 4th

OK, here are the newest details,
The meeting will take place at the REST AREA on the NORTH side of ALLIGATOR ALLEY at MILE MARKER 35. Meeting will start at 10:00am. Lunch details are being worked out. There are boat ramps there. The ride (whether we go north or south) is dependant on water levels at THAT time.
Everyone is on their own as far as hotels/camping arrangements ( you are big girls and boys  ), but I will give a Hint: Naples area is Great!

This is an outdoor meeting so please be courteous while launching your boats. Help keep the SOUND level down  .

After seeing CC's post on another thread made me wunder ( it usually just wanders), can someone from down south let everyone know about such rules as orange flags or whatever? We don't want any problems while in the glades.
Thanks,
Bob/swampjet

Thanks for the info. One thing about an outdoor public meeting. Folks are gonna have a hard time hearing NO MATTER WHAT. A bullhorn is good, but people always think it has to be turned on full RIOT control volume. They work great at a low volume too. And that dang karaoke machine that Steve had at the Milk Bus would make a perfect P.A. for addressing a small to medium group.

If you don't get something, and the meeting is more than about 10 people gathered into a tight circle, the meeting is gonna go long (again) from all the people saying "Huh? What?" and the speaker will have no voice left.

Just my $0.02

I hope you know that the airboaters who are getting married out there are all meeting and leaving from the MM35 ramp ALSO. Maybe that's why the meeting is there, and I'm not sure how big it is, but with an FAA meeting and a wedding party of a popular pair... I hope the parking works out.

EVERYONE ELSE.... It may be a good idea to avoid that ramp on Saturday Feb. 4th. I know I will.

Now I'm up to $0.04

Well Mood ,
It's obvious you have not been at a FAA meeting. There will be way more than 10 people there. And FAA itself, does not set up these meetings. Each meeting is hosted by one or more of it's many clubs and businesses. The host club sets up place and arrangements. Sometimes things change beyond control like the fact the water level in the glades has been going from high to dry and back and forth over the last couple of weeks. Throw in a marriage on the island and trying to ferry people to the island and things get crazy. The decision to hold it at the rest area, which is HUGE with lots of parking, was by Broward club which is hosting this meeting. It is their call, it's their meeting. They live there, they know what they are doing.
If you are interested in coming to the meeting and get to see first hand the many issues FAA is dealing with, then come and listen. Remember only delegates from the clubs and businesses can speak at the meetings ( this is to keep the time to a minimum and keep things on track).
As for a P.A. system, I have one if it is needed. But we have a loud President (Phil Walters) so it probably wont be used  .
Anyhow, I'm looking forward to riding the glades. See you there.

Yeah! I've never seen that ramp. Is it fair to call it JUST a ramp?!!!! It's more like a RAMP CITY. I went and looked at the aerial photo closeups. I stopped counting the parking slots at 100. Looks to be close to 150 parking places there. But some of the ones near the main building seem dedicated to tractor/trailer rigs.

Dang that is one nice looking ramp complex! I made a photo of it, based on the great drawing that airboat4fun posted. I'll have it uploaded real soon.

Swampjet,

The invite for the $6.00 lunch on Saturday sounds good to me! Mood and most of us will try to avoid the 35mm ramp until that point of the day out of consideration for the FAA, (and to avoid the chaos of the crowd there) :D
