FAST AIRBOAT

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF SET UP WOULD BE NEEDED FOR AN AIRBOAT TO DO 100 MPH WITH ABOUT 8 PEOPLE IN IT ON WATER AND LAND (LAND MAYBE NOT THAT FAST BUT YOU NEVER KNOW) THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

"when I was fab" i footed in US water ski show team - I smacked the water all the time at around 40MPH, the water gets hard. His saving grace IMO was that he bounced out of the water & didn't completely catch. ( we used to call it "catch'in a toe") That helped him slow down some. ( a little but every bit counts).

Awesome take on the video!

PS Can I post that link here http://www.banderlog.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=1

There are some videos posted at screamandfly.com that show what high speeds can cause. They are posted for educational purposes, not for entertainment.

Lunacy - as in why?

We are struggling mightily with an airboat image issue that threatens our very ability to run airboats on public waterways. Too many that are too loud, too inconsiderate of others and on and on.

No airboat is even close to safe at that speed - much less one that risks the lives of passengers. Get real.

Last summer, airboaters were killed in front of crowds at speeds well less than 100 mph. Those who read the numerous stories that followed and those that witnessed the events are changed forever in how they percieve our favored boats.

Responsible and considerate operation is what is called for in these decisive days.

I respect your fight. I hold a handful of Licenses with the state of FL only to be governed by my competition and by those much deeper pockets than my company with agendas of big corporations.

Our common sense, professionalism & quite frankly being a little smarter than those who don't understand us is what has always kept us in the playing field-

All of us in motorsports who go "twang" run into the same thing.

"Wallies" in all sports give the professional a bad name.

Yes they do get killed and they they call it a skiboat, a dragracer....et al.. and they relate it to you & me!

Sorry to come on the board with a light hearted spirit I didn't realize there was such an under current here. Respectfully Replying LB 8)

Big Daddy - If you go out west to the Colorado River, there are sections that have lots of public use (AND I MEAN LOTS). From sunrise to about 11:00 AM the river is low due to the dams being closed. Then they open it and the water comes up a few feet. Just perfect for anything up to a cigarette boat size with twin inboards.

It is crazy, all the people in Arizona and California head there for sun, fun, and water. And of course with the water, sun, and fun there is Al-K-HALL mixed in.

They are running jet boats with 500 HP on the back, jet skis, you name the brand that fits a trailer and has a submerged propeller and they probably have seen it. People lining the shores, on the sand bars, swimming, tubing, and running through this are idiots doing 60 MPH in boats. Have had several friends go there and they couldn't believe it. Now they are looking at limiting noise, MPH, HP, you name it, just to control the issues.

Just hope those guys with airboats that will do 55+ will not get things limited the same way. Because I would love to make it over to Florida towing an airboat to run in some of the areas I hear so much about.

low bridge i myself am fairly new to airboats about 6 years and i can tell you there are places i could run then that i can't now. alot of this is due to development but some of it is lack of respect by uncaring airboaters not cleaning up after themselves overly loud boats wreckless operation the list goes on and on if we don't protect our hobby we won't have it.

Does the canoe count?

Newbies just don't get it, do they?

"Guest" Why don't you PM me if you've got something to say & lets not trash the board.

Hey Rick I have tried three time to post that video it loads and then informs me of an error. I will try again at lunch and I will copy the error message and send it to you. Anybody know of a way I can post a video of a good airboat race it’s not even ten seconds long.

the video needs to be on an accessable website -

past the address and highlite it & click on URL at the top right. Is that what your tryin?

It is not that speed isn't a thrill. I run an 0-540 on a 13' booat that will scoot. I have found out the hard way that speed is the enemy of control on an airboat.

My working bay boat runs close to 60 mph - but, I rarely use that speed for many reasons. I've been around the results of too much speed in boats - too many times.

Was close to the founder of Bonefish grille when he stuffed his ocean racer at 80 and killed himself - and hurt a couple of real beauties.

Airboats by their very nature run in places where stumps, rocks, gators, cows, hogs, deer and other airboaters pop up out of no where.

Rick I have tried everything I even tried sending it via url and in an Email to you. I'm on dial up so I will load it to a disk and try sending it from a freinds house.
