The EVERGLADES - Area 3a South
Saturday 2-10-2007
10AM
Alligator Alley (I-75) Mile Marker 35
===========================

unless someone objects I will take the lead on this one since it is in my backyard.
If anyone else from down here wants to pitch in please get in contact with me.

I have some ideas on where to bring the group, but I would like to know how many plan on riding for the day?
What time should we plan to get back to the ramp?
How many plan to stay overnight?

Let me know what your plans are, I am looking forward to a real good ride...

I going to plan on attending. I'll make sure if my wife doesn't attend, that she understands I may be a little late  .

Cracker

Make sure you get you Kitchen pass signed this time I would hate to see you in the Dog house Again, man I would love to come to this ride but it cost me so much in Diesel to come all the way down from Georgia. I hope Randy take you guys all the way to the Microwave tower, wish I had my second Boat finished so I could go to this one, it buy far is my favorite place to ride it is awesome and you can't get a nicer guy for a guide!

I plan on being there to

looking forward to running way down south, I don't know if I will be camping or what?

May come down for the day. Can anyone tell me how long it would take fron I-75 and I-4?

Tryin to help!

Better leave another hour early...unless you go through Ft Mars and Nipples at 6 AM on I75 you're gonna be pretty suprised :D

New off ramps at Fort Myers and Naples as well as all the snow-birds being here still as well as an interstate being 20 years behind on expansion!

Basketcase

P.S. the toll on the alley went up this year, anybody know how much it is now?

Man, the date has changed on this so many times. I tried to plan my eye surgery around the trip, but if it's on the 10th I will still be in the recovery period :(

Yeah Plum - that 27 is a downright pleasant ride.

Mudpuppy - if you could get to lake wales 98 to 60 or whatever, it really is a great ride down 27. Nice scenery thru the Florida Heartland, then you hit Lake O and the rest of the drive is thru Big Sugar. No redlights, no side roads. Even if the time is a little longer on that route - I'd take it because of the lower stress level on the road. (cheaper gas along there too)

Laura will be just starting her new assignment - it's still up in the air - looks like she'll be back in Clermont for a few months... we're not sure of her schedule yet. If we don't make this trip - Randy and you guys - we'll see you at the Broward show!!!

Dang, this time of year is so much going on!!!

have some fun on this ride everyone!!! Take photos!!!

matt.

Here is a picture of the MM35 where we well start out, there is more room at the southwest ramp and it is closer to the trail.
for those coming from the East you have to go past one boat ramp under the bridge, around past another boat ramp to the stop sign and the rest area will be on your right, make the left then go over the bridge to get to the southwest ramp on the other side.
for those coming from the West take the first exit and go right at the stop sign ...

Man, this sucks I`ve wanted to ride the Glades since before I even got a boat and I`m gonna be in Texas. Have fun all y`all

Just spoke with a buddy that went frogging sat night in 3A ,he put in at the next ramp west of miami canal rest area and said the water was very low and dry in some areas running south .

There has been some good frogging out there the last couple of weeks, Last Saturday when I was out frogging there were about 15-20 other boat in the area, most were commercial froggers that have been camped out on the Alley for about a month now. Don't know how much longer the waters gonna last though, it's going down fast, you are dragging the bottom hard when you cross the canal right now.

Latest update 3 weeks till the run...
I went out this weekend and boy was I suprised at how quickly the water is disapearing. I was dragging the bottom in alot of the trails and in some places the rocks were out of the water. My boat was bouncing around like a pinball in some of the narrow trails. You can still make it to the tower. We may not be able to make the big ride around the area. Saturday night my buddy Charlie came out and found a couple of places that his Direct Drive couldn't wiggle out of without some help.
I stopped and talked to the commercial froggers on the Alley and they said the water has dropped about 4" in the last couple days. They were cleaning last nights catch, two HUGE bags just full of frogs. They had to cover an awful lot of grass to make their money.
I will update everybody the next time I go out.
