Little details known as FHP patrolman was gunned down during routine traffic stop. Massive search is on for suspects. Officer reportedly alive and in surgery at this time.

The FHP officer did not survive the shooting.

LAKE PLACID — Florida Highway Patrolman Nick Sottile died after being shot on U.S. 27 between Lake Placid and Sebring, according to Cathy Albritton, director of marketing and public relations for Florida Hospital - Lake Placid.

Sottile, reportedly, made a routine traffic stop on U.S. 27 near ‘Witmore Curve,’ south of U.S. 66 when one suspect fled the vehicle on foot. When Sottile chased the suspect, he turned and shot him, according to reports. The driver of the white Toyota Camry fled the scene in the car.

Yeah,
I hope they push him up into a corner with that gun, and shoot him down like a dog.

The law enforcement in that area has recently demonstrated that they will get it done.
Hope they can do it again.

Here's an article from the last shooting. Send Sheriff Judd after the scum and it could have a ending that includes Justice.

A case of underestimating the ammo requirements

As reported earlier, some dirt bag who got pulled over in a routine traffic
stop in Florida ended up "executing" the deputy who stopped him. The deputy
was shot eight times, including once behind his right ear at close range.
Another deputy was wounded and a police dog killed.

A statewide manhunt ensued. The low-life piece of human garbage was found hiding
in a wooded area with his gun. SWAT team officers fired and hit said low-life 68 times.

Now here's the kicker: Asked why they shot the guy 68 times, Polk County Sheriff
Grady Judd, told the Orlando Sentinel...get this. "That's all the bullets we had."

God bless Sheriff Judd!

JD,

Very sad indeed, we heard all the squad cars in-route to the scene on Friday. For a veteran to go this way is a big loss, (MsWizard and I are on that lonely stretch of road once every week or so).

Take the thugs to a good ol bull-whipping, tie em' to the biggest fire ant mount you can find in the middle of a field and forget about them!

I know ya'll know it by now but the one who fled was the passenger who didn't want any part of the deal. The shooter was the driver who upon seeing the cruiser lights announced to his passenger he was gonna kill that cop. Unless things have changed and I missed it they only have the runner charged with trespassing at this time. Maybe thats fair maybe not, but they have the driver charged with the shooting. For them to have it that way makes you wonder if he had a video going in the car so they could tell what happened and no I wasn't hinting to see it on the news.

Glad they got the shooter, shame he didnt resist more than the knots you could see on his head in his mug shot.

I have heard from several that knew the officer that he had recently been promoted to traffic homocide and accident investigation and no longer patrolled traffic. That is probably the reason there was no dash cam and that he quit wearing his vest after the promotion. I have been told by several sources that the weapon used was a .22 caliber and they're not sure the vest would have helped as high up as the entry was (near collar bone). Eyewitnesses were able to put the events together for the investigators but I'm sure a cam would have provided a lot more information for the investigation at a lot quicker pace.
