The Citrus County Attorney's office has just provided a copy of the Final Draft of the proposed Noise and Vessel ordinances to be considered at the April 12th Public Hearing. The Draft is not yet available on the County's website, but you can read it in its entirety on the website of the Citrus County Airboat Alliance, at -http://www.citrusairboat.org/proposedordinance.html-

Most of the Noise Ordinance is a move in the right direction, providing for citations rather than the previous method of enforcement as provided in the Land Development Code.

We just need at least three of the County Commissioners to vote AGAINST adoption of Chapter 106, Article I, Section 106-5, which is the Vessel Ordinance based on F.S. 327.65.

For more information about this issue, review the materials provided at -http://www.citrusairboat.org/currentissues.html-.

And thanks for being part of our unified community of airboaters!

If you are setting next to your wife in your own living room with no other noise source in the house, and have a normal voice level conversation the Db level would be 60 Db. Ref:

If you cut your voice level to 1/2 of normal conversation the Db level would be 57. Ref:

That graph was taken from here:

If you look a the proposed noise ordinance:

In table I it limits the noise across property lines.

The limit for government property is around 1/3 the level of normal conversation (55 or -5Db) and the night time limit is 1/10 the level of normal conversation (50 or -10 Db).

I think any activity would exceed 1/10 the level of normal conversation.
