I stayed away from these blocks because of their weight. They are a full blown race block with extra material everywhere. This small block bare block weigh’s the same as a bare block big block chevy. Everyone knows I do not like putting small blocks on airboats over 16ft. The work performed is to much for the amount of cubic inches and the motors will not live as long! About a month ago I was approached for building some motors for large airboats. It occurred to me these blocks are capable of far beyond 1,000 HP and when completely assembled still weigh around 200 to 150 pounds less then a BB Chevy. Here is the cool part these blocks were intend to make large inch motors. The first one I’m building for a 20ft tour boat will be 482 cubic inches yes a 482 cubic inch small block! I thought about it and most people know the mark V and VI big blocks the 454's and 502's their blocks are weak and have some major issues! They tend to fail around 750-800HP. These small blocks are way more durable and can handle the abuse better then the Mark V and VI plus they will be hundreds of pounds lighter. Also this motor I’m building is 100% designed for airboat use it will actually have a 1/4 more stroke then a 454 or 502 BBC. I am excited about this motor I think it will out perform and out last the crate BBC marine motors. This thing will be a beast!
