Don't like to fish Labor Day Weekend, and was planning on getting out a few times last week but ended up being sick for over a week. Last night I finally got out with my nephew and another young man from work. We hit our favorite night time spot at about 11 pm and the fish were going off . Plenty of bait in the water. We were throwing flare tail hawks and yozurri minnows and live bait. Angler #1 had his first fish on in five cast and the hook pulled. Nephew then hooked up on a nice fish and as fish came boatside the line broke . Meanwhile, I was cast netting bait and decided I better give the artificals a try. First cast and I was on to a short, landed and released. Cast again and missed the set up. We been fishing maybe 10 mins. A short while later my nephew hooked up again and again as the fished approached boatside the line snapped . At that time he checked his line and found it to be brittle, put rod away. A little while later I'm on again to a nice fish, measured and photo taken then released to fight again - 37". After the tide changed we repositoned and in less than 10 mins I was on again, this time measured and released to the cooler - 33". Bite slowed, repositioned one more time and I missed a another fish on live bait. Then bite quit completely. Pulled anchor and headed to ramp at 5:30. Stopped by Duncan Donuts and then home. Not so quick post then tried to go to bed, not so successful there. Boat and fish are cleaned though.
