Finaly More Horsepower and less vibration below 2,000RPM

Finally I found away to get rid of that pesky idle clatter with a gear box and wide props at idle and still make big horsepower. I also believe I may have found another 40 HP below 5,000RPM. I can’t go into depth but I have been up a against a wall with car motors for five or so years now and Finally figured out what was limiting their horsepower and what required the goofy 108 lobe centers with excessive duration. Now that I have found this problem I can run a cam that will let my motor idle at 450RPM or so and will idle as smooth as a Escalade and boy is the fuel economy going to go thru the roof. I can’t wait to start testing ASAP I will start on my new boat this week and will be dyno testing and tunning the second week of January. The dyno can not validate what I found to be limiting horsepower however the prop sure will and the RPM I swing it at will tell the story. Man I’m more excited about this then the first time I ran an LS1.

Are you still working on the dd LS1 ? Oh yeah when are you gonna let the cat out of the box about project X? I dont meen to pry but im curious.

I beleive I have sold my boat and if it goes thru I will be boatless. So I will throw together some parts I have and put it on a old Hull I have sitting in my yard and just run a DD LS1 untill I can buiuld a new boat.

I'm going to use a friends Sensenich composite prop and when I get it dialed in how I like it I will call Sensenich for a wood one. I'm just going to have fun with this boat I'm sure it's not going to be fast or run dry to good! I am building a prop thrust plate for this motor since it will be a DD motor! This thing is solely for testing a few hair brain ideas. It will be a test bed for a few things.

Yeah, uh huh ...... sure. And there ain't a cow in Texas either.
The man will lay awake at night if that's the case. :)

olf

I'm really looking forward to my next gearbox boat. I want to build the smoothest idling high horsepower motor that get's better fuel economy then anything else I have done in the past. I expect to have it idle at 450RPM's with no gearbox chatter! The DD I don't know yet I'm just going to throw what ever cam I have laying around in it. I want to build this DD boat for under 8 thousand. I hope to spend 2k for hull, 2K for rigging, 700 for prop, a 2K used junk yard motor, and the rest on parts. We shall see.

1300 bucks doesn't leave a lot for "parts"

Why not build the rigging out of EMT? It will be strong enough for a DD and it should last you a long while. Powder coating is great, and you'd still come in under a grand for rigging

Just a thought

I'm gonna go to Jenny Craig that should help me run dry, either that or I can pull on the boat while my wife drives it.

EMT rigging, and use the extra cash to buy a Q Series, and I know it will run dry with 2 people.

Every airboat I have owned but one was made from conduit! I have 4 or 5 bundles in my shed I may use it depends on a few things.

Thunder, reckon your discovery will work to tame a cadi?As I have one going together here shortly I'd be interested in some improvements.

Yeah! I can't wait! One beer to many and he's going to leak the secret. I havent bought a cam yet, I appreciate it. Thanks Waterthunder!

It will be neat to see you finish your project. I remeber when you started it was a DD now you are building a great combo and I'm sure you will be very happy with it. I love trying to build things better that's why I'm starting over!
