Floral City Airboats and Noise Issue

Did anybody see the paper where the owner of Floral City Airboats is holding a decimal meter next to an airboat showing that he can achieve the required level? He has the supporters for the noise level control in an uproar again. I have no idea how he can do it, does anybody else? Diane Vann.

Well never mind, I found my answer. If you go on the Citrus County Chronicle's web site and search the archives for airboat noise issues it will be the first article that comes up. The owner of Floral City Airboats will be marketing a new airboat in about six months that will run under 90 decimals at cruising speed.

By the way his airboats usually sell between 50,000 - 70,000 dollars. Maybe we should all start saving!!!! :?

The technology to make the engines and props quieter has been around for a long time. I think it is good that a manufacturer is going to do the research and development to perfect it. I think more boat and prop manufacturers should join in. A lot has been done already, read about the turbo warpdrive prop. We are going to have to make the boats quieter to survive in my opinion.

It's a shame that it was promoted way before it has been proven.

We will all benefit from this because it can be easily copied, and I doubt that it can be patented.

Why not ?????? Harley patented it"exclusive" noise from its bikes. Honda and Yamaha took em to court but lost. I don't know the owner from Florel but it's a grand stand item on his part. I wish everyone comes up with the same feature as him. Not everyone is going to be able to afford his solution. Just my opinion.

Putting my best foot forward on my first post to this forum...

Harley was not trying to patent thier engine exhaust note.
The Company withdrew trying to aquire a treadmark for the "potato-potato-potato" rumble of its' engines in 2000.

Mmmmm.....potato.....
