I just found another mini manufacturer yall , http://www.airboatfl.com go to new boats , scroll down a nd click on the mini pic. asking 9700.00 brand new , says it runs 25 tops and doesn't specify wether or not it comes with a trailer , but 12x7 aint really a mini says it weighs 500 lbs . sweet looking rig though, go check it out

it looks like it would be heavier than 500 like you said josh with the tall sides and such , might perform better with the kohler 40 , speaking of I wonder why no one is using them yet .

snapper, i know we are both waiting on what mark comes up with, but i have been in constant contact with Paul and Carol Dixon of Bainbridge, GA. He is currently working on his 40HP prototype. He is build in on his 11x7 glass. I have been leaning toward Al of course b/c it is what everyone runs around here but I have been told the glass is the way to go on these smaller boats since it can actually be built lighter and stronger than Al by the right people. As I mentioned I know of a 35hp boat that will run dry with two people and that boat is one of Paul's. All these other companies are jumping on the market which is starting make the decision hard but I know Paul builds a great boat and if he gets his 40hp Kholer up and running and starts building more boats with it then there is no doubt who I want to build my boat this spring.

anyone know if this one will run dry???

Mini airboats were never meant to run dry, when deciding on the definitions of the classes of minis,we wanted to keep the originality of each owner active. I really dont see any manufacturer coming out with a mini that will run dry because of the limitations keeping it in the mini class along with keeping the price down.

I do see minis in the future that will run dry but I don't think that it will be"normal" for a mini to run dry. I think with the proper engine/reduction/prop combination anything is possible. The key is to you an engine that is considered to be in the mini category to do this.

we may have different definitions of running dry papee , I'm used to struggling through saveene and fourchette with a go devil , if it can get up on top of that and roll and maybe slide dry with a running start or jump an occasional levee thats dry to me , I dont need something to run from a dead stop on dry ground no need for it although it would be nice to have that power I can't justify it with the price of fuel and repairs on a bigger rig , alot of guys around here have rotax rigs and they run good as well but I aint up on the souped up weedeater engine and the exhaust

I know they were not built to run dry!!! I was just asking if that one did? I know a few that can and I'm not talking about 3 foot saw grass I know a mini will not run this. I am talking about just one grown like a mowed lawn like shown in the picture. Just gives you and idea of the setup and how it is built. Just some things like weight distribution and makes you wonder where all the weight is being its 500lbs. Is the hull lighter gauge Al like .090 or is it a regular hull made of .125 or .100. By me asking does it run dry even if it is just one 3-6in mowed grass it allows some comparison to a 35 rig that i know will run on that type of ground and one that i know will run on your front lawn with two people both powered by a 35 Briggs.

Like snapper said down here running dry is going where a go-devil takes an arm and a leg to work to get out of a shimmer of water that even a small airboat would fly accross. We used to run an old VW that weighed a ton but it went a lot of places a go devil cant. I share the same intrests as snapper. A small boat reasonable price that can get through the thick stuff and be able to hop a small bank. One thing I hate is coming to the blind with the tide in and by the time you leave the water is gone and having to push the boat backwards in the mud that built up around it. I wanna be able to pull up and hop up on the bank and park, when i go to leave the blind just crank up and drive off. Just me in the boat I will swing around to the edge of the blind to pick up the gear and my buddy and still be in the water so i dont have to worry about getting started with a load on dry ground.

no doubt that mosquito would run dry , heck it even climbed uphill in the yard on the video clip they drove all over the place in it , they couldn't with the carbon prop but the 3 blade wide wood scooted it all over the placebut they shut down their web site for some reason . that was the best looking rig I've seen yet but it was pricey too , like 13,000 that s nuts just assume get a full size rig for that money , did yoou ever see that clip br

Oh yes snapper, I have been in the mini market for two years now watching it go up and down waiting to see what I want and waiting to get the money saved up. Now it seems to have caught on strong but that mosquito is nothing compared to what I found at Airboats Unlimited with Paul Dixon's experience. Go to there website http://www.airboatsunlimited.com/index.php and go to the twister page. There are a few videos there. the third one is a 16x7 with 3 blade CF on mowed grass. Yes a 16x7. Paul as i mentioned is working on his 40 Kohler right now and the other day I spoke to Mrs. Carol and she let me know that they both got in his 11x7 with the 35 and rode around the yard. His 14x7 with the 35 is quoted at 13,400 if you wanted to know but that has all the bells and whistles included. Bilge, running lights, and Al trailer.

14 x7 and 16 x 7 is to big for me but the 11 x 7 sounds about right but I dont want glass at all unless it had a good layer of poly but then your at the weight with aluminum but I'm interested , im like you I've been saving and I got my money ready now I'm just shopping for the one I like best , butI got to see what marks got up his sleeve before i jump at anything , I really like chucks rig the 116 but wouldn't get it with a briggs , I think it s to heavy for that maybe the kohler 40 or 45 when it comes out will perform better but I think its probably a little to heavy of a hull for the 35 , but that just from what I've seen in the pictures but by far it's the absolute best looking rig I've seen yet in the mini class , beautiful boat I wish I had a month off and the money to go around and test ride each one of these rigs first , but someones gonna get my money , just not sure who yet

same here one thing about paul dixon from talking to him he knows his stuff. I have spoke with him about recommending a builder for a lightweight aluminum hull that I want him to build on. When it gets closer to my buying time he said he would steer me in the right direction for an Al hull and he would build on it for me. I just got word that Paul and Carol are getting ready for a show on the 1st and the 40 kohler is at the powder coater as we spoke so I should be getting some nice info on if in the next few days.

What ever happened with American Airboats attempt at a mini airboat? They build excellent airboats. Has anyone heard anything?

The details are being worked out now but I am planning on launching a mini, light weight boat soon. I would like to be in 10 to 12x7 light weight Hull. I will post more details when we get closer.

I haven't heard much on americans mini , and I know they took the flounder pounder off the site but that wasn't really a mini , but I don't know but this time next year I think they'll be every where , I think every one on southern airboats should get royalties for helping get the mini craze started

br go check this rig out , right here in franklin for 12,000 might be worth looking at , beautiful older marks made rig w/ a angle valve 200 lycoming on airboat trader in the 10 to 15 catagory like the 3rd down from top let me know what you think , i like that but I dont know if our land owner would let me run that on our lease , i'd be limited where i could run it

I saw it on airboat trader. I am not buying at this point in time. Waiting till later spring. But it is nice. I have to get a bigger truck to pull all my new toy first.

br,lc,La I bought a 14' Dixon twister from Paul in July 06. I use the boat for aquatic weed treatments and it serves the purpose well. The boat construction is first class and Paul's customer service is unequaled.

super dave have you ever took it out to test its limits and have you ever run dry with yours ? how long to get on plane in deep water , and how long can you ride on a tank of fuel

super dave, yours is the yellow and black one on Paul's Website if I can remember your old post correct. Yes I know he is the man that is going to build my mini and even if I decide to go 4cyl A/C I think he will build it too. Just have to talk to him about recommending who to get my Al hull from.
