For You Gator Hunters

Did some telephone contract work out in Conroe once, lotta years back. Spent time over in Cut & Shoot as well.

that gator is huge- i wonder what the weight on it was. my best was 12-6 and i thought i was doing good to get her. whats the record in florida now?

I saw that e-mail a few years ago claiming that gator was here on lake Martin, I wish it were and would change it's diet to mexicans  ( I was just kinnin )

Yep, I lived in Conroe back in '77 and even water skied on lake Conroe. I never saw any gaters of any size but that could have been due to "proper management".
Scotty, I know xactly where Cut and Shoot is, just before Midway and just past that was Security, Tx. The Security Resturant had the BEST chicken fried steak..... In '77, Cut and Shoot had a population of 300.

i'll drink to that! haha

WoW I did not know they even had Gators in Texas I can see there like everything else there big !

Gator habitat is from coastal North Carolina down through Texas, up to the fall line in most states. (I saw signs of gators all ove the Phinizy swamp in Augusta) They are in Arkansas and go slightly into Oklahoma up the Red River.

Bottom line: Gators are a Southern thing..............too bad the're not crocs & would eat more yankees........might slow down development a little.

IT IS GENETICALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR A GATOR TO BE 23 FT. LONG!!! it would have to be like 60 years old. by the time they get to be 12 feet long, they don't have any teeth left. no doubt he's big, but 23 ft is ridiculous. study up on the 'Alligator mississippienis' and you decide what to believe

I went back and actually read some of the posts that are on the link to the two pictures...how about the one with the young Yankee from MN who said (like an expert) that the deer down south are small so that one could be the size of a lab...give me a break. I'm tired of everyone thinking key deer are the only deer in the south.

Duck I had a 12 footer bite a hole in my boat Sat AM. He had an impressive set of teeth.

sre, maybe my comment was a little general. what i was trying to get at is this; compare the sharpness of a 2 footer and a 12 footer. if a 12 footers teeth were that sharp, his bite would be like a great white!!!! most gators that big have far fewer teeth and they are like oval shaped marbles. but, with that much power in their jaws they could probably 'gum' a chunk out of just about any boat!!!! but, the majority of old gators are just like old people, they will only have a few teeth.....

Duck, how about some swimmin' lessons on Black Creek in Florida ?

Those Texas gator don't have any sharp teeth 'cause they're tryin to chew those jack rabbitts y'all got out there ...

duck, I know where youre coming from, youre right if their teeth were that sharp they would be a helluva a wrecking machine.

I'm not far north of you Florida guys and my son-in-law killed a 230 lb 10 pt in sight of my house in 2004. We have another very large deer which is making an ass of us ,or at least did last year. It has a larger foot print than the 230 did. But the gator which was in thoes pictures was near Savana Ga. not Texas or Al.
