From the soldiers....

I know its a little late but I've been pretty busy......

Here's some stuff some of the soldiers are requesting. This is copied from http://www.anysoldier.com. This is where I get my addresses from. Usually, I select the NCO's and Officers because they tend to represent larger #'s of troops and it's easier to send several boxes to one address than to print out 100 different addresses. There is a trickle down effect in the end and everyone is happy.....

We have electricity and live in trailers. We have microwaves and we do our own laundry.I'm representing my company. My company is from FT Hood Texas and we provide wheeled maintenance, doctors, medics, cooks, automation, small arms repair, generator repair, and electronic systems maintenance for an air cavalry brigade.
I'm making this request because the PX that we have here on Camp Taji is not restocked often.
I was told it will take a long time for the stocks to catch up with the demand. My soldiers need help with body soap, hair soap, Toothpaste and Toothbrush, laundry detergeant and dryer sheets, baby whipes, deoderant, razors and shave lotion, hand lotion, etc. magazines, card games, snacks of any kind. Anything would be appretiated. Thank you in advance for any help given to my Soldiers.

Hello and thank you for your support, I am representing a squad of soldiers. Our living conditions are pretty decent except for the availability of personal hygiene items(ex:soaps,deoderants,qtips,wipes,lotions,razors) If possible we would appreciate safety glasses with a rating of Z-87,a few soldiers have had theirs damaged. We also lack in items such as gum,candy,cup a soups (dehy)and snacks of any type. Again we all Thank you for your kindness and generosity. You are all GREAT AMERICANS!

And one more.....I chuckled at this one....

We have stable living conditions where we are located. We live in little tin boxes, but they have A/C and Heaters. I am very thankful for that, last year we weren't so fortunate. We have laundry facilities, but the sizes for us are all wrong because the PX/shopping is designed towards the 'males'. The females just aren't shown as much attention because there are so few of us. I think our main concern is our hair. We are required to keep it back at all times, and we go through hairspray and gel like it's going out of style. The PX just doesn't stock enough for us, and where we are located, it's not easy to get to. Also the water is non-potable, so you can't drink it. We do use water bottles to drink from and brush our teeth, but the water is really hard on our hair and skin. These are obvious "female" issues that men don't have a problem dealing with. My request is for conditioner, and shampoo. Hydrating types, or moisture types that will help. Febreeze is also a good thing too since we don't have a washing machine at our own disposal. Plus, anything that smells good. This is my second time over here, and while I love saying that I have devoted service to my country, I really like smelling, and looking like a girl while I say it. I can out run most the guys in my unit, and I shoot better than them too. But I am a 26 year old GIRL, and I have about 10-15 GIRLS in my unit that feel the same way. They have various jobs that range from Truck driver, medical personal, admin, to electricians. We just like to remember that we can be Marines, and WOMEN at the same time. Thank you so much for your continued support. I know not all of you agree with the war in general, but just knowing that you are willing to put your personal beliefs aside, and side with fellow Americans in uniform that agree democracy is worth fighting for, means the world to us. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL for that. Lord knows how much we appreciate just being in your thoughts.

Another...

Hi to everyone from back home. I would like to thank you personally for taking an interest in making our stay here feel more like home. It is great people like you that makes our stay here feel more comfortable with things from back in the states. We have to supply our own toiletries and it has been a big help to so many of us to get things like soap, Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, floss, lotion, dryer sheets (to rub on our uniforms), purell hand sanitizer, candles, air fresheners/room deoderizers, gum, candy (any kind but chocolate is loved by us all) We like to get snake foods for when we are sitting around in our rooms like chips, popcorn, beef jerky, those microwavable desserts (the ones you just add water), ramen noodles, puddings, Little Debbies and things like that. Really, anything that would remind us of home is wonderful...for the ladies...they need all the girly stuff...hair products, nail products, pens and stationary. We would like to get a way to send our thank you's to you when we get your package and maybe a picture or something so we can see who is caring for their troops. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and thanks again for your interest.

Another....

We are located in a pretty remote area on the east side of Baghdad, the PX runs out of just about everything quick, personal hygien items (Bath Wash, shaving cream, shampoo conditioner, ect) go fast. We do have a Chow Tent, but frequent mortar attacks result in Soldiers not ways getting to use it, so food items and snacks get us by for the most part. We have a night shift that really can't get to the PX so books and music CD's that people have thrown away would be nice to give to the Soldiers as well. We do have some Laundry facilitties here but that can result in you clothes being stolen or damaged by faulty washing procedures or theft bythe Iraqi locals hired to work here. Socks, t-shirts (Army Tan or Brown t-shirts, Army Green Socks) are in short supply. There is a place [many] miles from here but the road gets closed alot due to IEDs so the guys and gals end up waiting for them for some time.

We could never thank you enough for what ever you send as we are short on just about everything except dust and flies and smoke from the trash fires. There is nothing to do here on the small amount of "down time", the MWR facilities here are non-existant. We make do with what we have. sometimes you can find a book or a old magazine. There was a box of CDs that got sent here and they went like hot cakes. Hot choclate and Coffee, tea and stuff like that is a big hit with the soldiers. I have found a microwave for the Soldiers and lately I was able to get my mom to send some popcorn and that was like Christmas. We are from CO, Ft Carson. We are a MP unit that is responsible for training the Iraqi Police. It is a very Dangerous Mission and the soldiers are doing a wondrful Job. I am just trying to keep the Morale up and those simple pleasures mean more than you can imagine.

Is there any way we can get a box or two of our stuff to the units that are working with the airboats Faron's crew recently delivered over there?

Not all of it, I want to be sure a lot gets to the average everyday working grunt. But it'd be cool if we could support/adopt "our own".

I thought if any of our boys were on them. The photos looked like US soldiers on them.

But in another of the photos is looks like these 4 Americans and 50 hometown boys.

Reading the letters from our soldiers really choked me up. We're heading out to the store now and will try to get to Laughmans about 10AM tomorrow. I have to work all night, so I'm not going to be any shape for airboating. But Carol and I should be able to help out in boxing up this stuff or anything else that's needed. What a great idea this is!!!
